Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
So we must be the last family on the earth without one of these systems. I am not convinced that we will get one BUT if you have one can you give me the pros and cons of what you have?
Thanks

Re: Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
We have all 3, but we tend to use the XBox the most.
XBox seems to have the most games that we like to play, lots of downloadable content, and I love playing Kinect games. It takes it a step further than the Wii by reading your body movements. I have dance and exercise games. I LOVE the Disneyland game where you can walk around the park and hug and dance with characters. it just adds a whole dimension to the fun. The system also has all of the more hardcore games my DH likes, so it's a really good mix for both of us.
This applies to all 3 systems, but we use the Xbox to watch Netflix, hulu, HBOGo, etc. It seems to have the best/easiest interface for those services as well.

We have Wii and PS3
Wii - get to play old school nintendo games from the 80s and 90s. Graphics are awesome and the new mario nintendo games are fun and addicting. I also like Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resoort and the balance board for exercising.
PS 3- don't play it much, but DH does, but it serves as our blu-ray player

Re: Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
Easy.
Wii is family oriented. If you have young kida, and/or like playing "family" type games, get the wii.
Between on of the other systems (Xbox and PS) one of them is MORE sports oriented (probably the PS and one is more "shoot em up" oriented.
So it all comes down to the kinds of games you want to play.
If you LOVE sports games you want to look at the one system. It will still have kill games, but not as good as the other (again, I think its the Xbox is the shoot, PS is the sports, but I could be wrong.
Xbox is probably the most popular for males/men then PS.
Wii for "family".

Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
Proud PS3 owner.
I have nothing else. I have the PS3 that was uniquely built to be reverse compatible. So I can play PS2 & PS3 games on mine.
Yes the blu-ray is the BEST part by far!
We play family games, sports games and I use it a LOT for my adventure type games (first person shooters, role playing, strategy games). We also use it to download and hold all photos and videos so we can have a slide show of AJ's photos or let her watch Yellow Submarine (before it came out on dvd) and other things we can download and redirect to our PS3 without having the DVD.
I keep my PS3 well uncovered and unhindered to avoid any overheating issues while I play 4hour long campaigns. Its really only failure is the cooling fan, IMHO.
I dont like the Wii because nothing on there is really great enough for me to justify the cost of the console AND the games. I won't bother with it. Just not appealing enough. I keep saying i will to get up and moving but thats even MORE money!... so nah
Xbox = Red Ring of Death! It overheats stupidly and will just plain out DIE on you. Have fun returning it and getting it fixed. Too many of my friends have lost, replaced and modded their xbox because of this issue.
But yeah the Blu-Ray seals it for me.. so its not JUST a console but a blu-ray player and that makes it multipurpose and for me thats the best bang for my buck. I LOVE the quality of Blu-Ray!

We have Xbox and Wii.
Xbox is my fav because the Kinect makes you move but we have to have the Wii for the kids to play anything Mario related.

Re: Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
I agree that the Mario games make the Wii worthwhile, and they have the most kid and family friendly games.
Out of the 3 the one we could really live without is the PS3. So far I've only ever played 1 game on it

Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
we had the playstation, and rarely used it.
we recently replaced it with the Xbox, and we use it almost every day.
i tried the Wii, and it didn't seem as responsive as the Xbox (the motion detector games).

Re: Wii / XBox / Playstation 3
We had the original Wii (DH stood in line the first day they came out in the US). It is great for families and has some nice add on game play items. You can get an exercise board and have fun playing physical games. I really liked the Wii.
Like Xlinidra we also have a backwards compatible PS3 so DH is able to play his old school games on it. There are third party people who will fix the fan issue - DH faced it and got it back - and it works. This is the workhorse for us, he loves playing on it. It has a lot of games and is our bluray player.
While we don't have an Xbox in my house I have played on it at friends houses. It is also a lot of fun. The negative thing for me is the paid for subscription service it basically requires to play games. To me the heavy game play on this is excellent for more shoot em up male dominated genre games.
It really depends upon what you plan to use the system for as they are all good for different reasons.
