Will I ever sleep again? colic/reflux
DS will be 2 months old on Sunday. Due to his colic and acid reflux we barely sleep. He is on reflux meds and special formula. Even when he is not crying he can't sleep peacefully. He needs to be upright all the time. The swing works somewhat. But he is always grunting and fidgeting in his sleep and it always wakes him up. If I hold him all night he would sleep, but I can't do that. He isn't on a feeding schedule yet, he eats different amounts at different times.
DH and I are SO TIRED and our 2 year old daughter is so hard to keep up with too.
Will this ever end? I need to know that I will sleep again.

Re: Will I ever sleep again? colic/reflux
I'm sorry & hope you get some sleep soon! DD was very colicky and has reflux too. Around 2 months was almost our breaking point too!! Elevating her mattress with some towels, swaddling and lots of shhhhhhhhh & rocking to get her to sleep worked at 2 months (actually from about 3 weeks - 3 months). After that, she seemed to develop better sleeping habits (I think b/c of the consistency) and her colic seemed to wind down. She's 4.5 months now and we notice a world of difference. I think 6 months will be even better - when she is eating more solids and upright more (to help with the reflux). Hang in there!!

BTDT. 6 months was a real turning point, though he's still up a few times a night at 7 months.

Re: Will I ever sleep again? colic/reflux
Oh Christy I wouldn't wish the hell I went through with DS on anyone. I hope your DS isn't as bad as my DS was but it took him 6 months to even do anything that resembled sleep. At 14 months he still doesn't sleep through the night but now I think it's more habit from all the months or poor sleep. FM me anytime you need to vent. I've been there and I know how mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting it is and the complete toll it takes. I can promise you though it's not forever and it really does get better.

Re: Will I ever sleep again? colic/reflux
Have you tried swaddling him? I know you said he needs to be upright but the grunting and fidgeting made me think of my DS (he has mild reflux) and he slept much better swaddled. Still grunted though but i think many babies do that. Their stomachs are supposed to get better as they near 3 months so you don't have much longer to go Also, have you tried establishing a bedtime routine? That might help him settle down a bit when its time for bed. (before we had a set schedule, we did the routine for the bottle that was somewhere between 8-11)
