Those with more than 1 child - when the other has reflux or colic?
DD #1 is very high spirited and DD#2 has colic and reflux and won't let me put her down - she ONLY wants to sit all day long on my shoulder - I get short breaks where I can lay her down in the swing/bouncer/cosleeper but that happens maybe once or twice a day - 90% of the time she is on my shoulder or if I try to put her down she is hysterical crying. She doesn't like the sling or carrier so that is out.
What do other moms do? DD#1 is starting to have issues with it today - this is my first week alone and DD was fine the past two days but today she is getting mad at me. When I put DD#2 down for more than 2 mins she screams hysterically. I should also add that even ON the should she still cries several hours a day.

See DD#1 was the same way but she liked the carrier so that made it a bit easier - but with 2 and DD being only 24 months it is harder b.c she doesn't understand why I have to hold the baby - or why she cries when I put her down.
Also it doesn't help that other issues are going on today which have me stressed out and very upset by...

Re: Those with more than 1 child - when the other has reflux or colic?
I'm going through the same issues right now. DD#2 doesn't cry all day or need to be held, but she spits up ALOT and feeding her takes a very long time and then I have to hold her on my shoulder for 30mins after she eats so there is very little time that I can actually put her down. DD#1 is 3 and has become very needy lately. She has become very defiant and argumentative lately and I think it is because I'm spending so much time with the baby. I'm hoping the reflux will subside soon (she's on Prilosec now) and then things will level off here.
It may be harder for you since your first is only 2 and is harder to redirect into other activities. Maybe you can try to get #1 involved in taking care of the baby? Maybe helping burp, hold the bottle (with your help), give the binky, etc?
I hate to suggest it, but maybe TV will help distract for the time being. I know I've had to resort to it. I just feel like I have to do what I have to do right now.
I hope things get better for you soon.

I wish I had advice for you. DD was reflux and colic and screamed nearly every waking minute for quite a while. She slowly came out if it but has always been high maintenance.

Re: Those with more than 1 child - when the other has reflux or colic?
Well it is hard - b.c DD is BF AND refusing bottles no matter what we have tried DD#1 is helping some with handing me wipes, diapers etc at changing. Holding is somewhat hard b.c she just wants to smother and kiss her constantly and she is in that stage where she sits and grabs her body parts and points them out - so I'm nervous about her holding the baby.
I have resorted to putting DD#1 in the high chair and doing a TON of arts and crafts with her - but then she gets MORE energy and wants to run and climb more afterwards. DD#1 also rarely sits for TV - she would rather play with blocks than sit and watch TV so that doesn't give much in down time.
