We could afford me being a SAHM. And I think I'd really like to. However, right now I am going back to work FT after 6 months. DH said I should go back PT, but for now (I just went through a reorg, and am reporting to someone I don't know), I think it's best I go back FT and then make the decision to go PT. Maybe after baby #2, I'll be a SAHM.

I am taking off 9 months - so I am a SAHM until September.
I dont want to live paycheck to paycheck though so I will definitely go back to work in September.

I was just having a similar discussion with DH today. I want to decrease my hours to 32/ week. I just don't think we can swing it so unfortunately I think I will be going back full time. Good luck. Its smart that you're having this conversation now instead of later in your pregnancy.

I work PT as it is, so i'll be taking 6 months off when  arrives, not for financial reasons but b/c i need to get out and be around adults.. I'm in a good position to work weekends, so my DH will be taking care of the homefront on those days.. I would love to SAH for a year, but @ work after 6 month leave your position can be posted and i would have to go back to nights, can't fathom it.

Yes, I will be a SAHM. We are fortunate that we can do that, but we also do not own a house yet. I may go back to PT after a few months.

I am going to go back for a few months and see how it goes....Technically, we can make it on just DH's salary if we cut out alot of crap..but it would be very tight -- only about $500 left over per month.....so I would work part-time at night (starbucks or some kind of cashier job) for some extra cash to put in the bank.
