Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
On the Baby Story it always seems like family members are in some room waiting...but if you can be in labor for so long wouldnt it be more likely that you would be calling with the announcement?

My mom and 2 sisters will most likely be at the hospital. I'm sure my boyfriends mom and sister will be also.

Re: Will grandparents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
Not pregnant, nor have I ever been. However, my sister had a baby a couple of months ago, and my BIL kept everyone updated how she was progressing. When she hit about 5cm, we all headed to the hospital to wait. We went in to see her (until they would kick us out for the pushing part)From the time we got there until the time my nephew was born, was about an hour (only because he ended up being born via c-section). It was wonderful to be there with the family when my BIL came out of the labor and delivery area to say he had been born.

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
Well my parents/IL's were anxious I guess. When they heard my water broke, DH called & told them but told them NOT to come until he called (my parents came that night anyway, although I had no progression at all). I was in one of the "holding" rooms.
Next am they started the pitocin & IL's showed up at 8am.....I told my parents the night b4 not to come b4 12...well...they were all waiting all day until I finally had an emergency cs at 9:26 that night. It was a LONG wait for them....
Both sets of parents came in/out of the labor room (esp. after the epidural) I was comfortable & just relaxing.

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
With my 1st DD, I went into labor in the middle of the night, but when a "reasonable" time came around, my parents came to the hospital and my DH made the big announcement in person. Inlaws didn't come.
With my 2nd DD, I had a scheduled c-section. My parents and my sister were there. My inlaws were at home with my DD.
When my sister had each of her kids, we were ALL there for the whole thing. For her DS, the whole thing took about 2-3 hours, but ironically for her DD she was induced and we were there for about, OMG, like 6 hours--and it was the day before my own due date!!

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
I was induced, so my family came to the hospital about 8 hours after my induction started and stayed until DS was born (probably about 10 hours).
Our L&D nurse was great b/c she snuck my parents and sister into the room after DS was born.

I haev no idea what my in-laws will be up to, but this is no big thing to them since we have 6 nieces & nephews. I'm sure they'll wait for a call. However, my mom and most likely my sister will definitely be there waiting.

THey will all be at home waiting. Labor can take a really long time so I dont see the point of them all waiting around. We will call them after the baby is born.

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
Not sure yet. My mom offered to come down early and stay and help if I want. But if we are not in a house yet, I might not inconvenience her to be in our small apartment.
I am sure once I go into labor my ILs will be driving or booking a flight now ASAP!
I think my sister will come down the weekend after to see our little , then come later for a longer stay (when the craziness calms down)

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
Both sets of parents were there. They were in an out of my room during labor. At one point I sent DH's parents home because we thought it would be another couple of hours, I had to have my mom call like 10 minutes later to get them back over because I was laready fully dilated.

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
My sister and DH were in the room with me. when i first went to the hospital my mom came up, but i sent her and my sister home b/c i was only 1cm, my labor progressed so fast that my sister barely made i back up for the delivery. my mom was in the waiting room and came in right after the baby was born while i was "recovering".

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
We live in Manhattan, my parents live on LI- when I get close to needing to go to the hospital, they're coming to our apt so that they can take care of our dog until I give birth. We are 5 minutes from the hospital by taxi, so they'll come to the hospital for the 1st visiting hrs after the baby comes. Only DH will be w/me in the hospital.

Re: Will your parents be waiting at the hospital or at home for the birth announcement?
My parents and my aunt were waiting in the waiting room. I went in to the hospital for an induction the night before and wound up having a c-section the next afternoon.
