Re: Wine / champagne question

When I was preg with DS, I had ONE GLASS OF WINE on Thanksgiving because my mother had just passed away and it was the first holiday spent without her...I needed to relax. It took me so long to finish it, that the BAC was probably NOTHING by the time it got to the baby and he turned out fine. I was only 4 months at the time. Chat Icon

This time, I haven't had any alcohol, but if I really wanted one glass, I would allow myself. I just don't feel the need right now!

OF course! Thats fine.

I think people dont realize that ONE glass gets completly diluted before it hits the babys bloodstream.

I never understood the fear of having a glass of wine.

Many high risk Dr's. prescribe Wine for women who are in pre term labor. A glass every other day.
So if thats the case, one rouge glass wont hurt.

I've had a glass of wine or a beer once a month since I got pregnant.

In other countries its perfectly normal and acceptable to drink even once a week. And as PP said, there is no hard evidence that occasional drinking causes any damage to the baby. My doctor told me it was fine to have a drink as often as every 3 weeks. And many doctors will actually tell you to have a glass of wine if you're contracting prematurely.

Honestly, I say go for it!!!

i agree. i had wine every so often in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters with DS--my OB told me it was no problem at all. one glass of alcohol isn't going to do anything to a baby.

drink it and have fun!

Re: Wine / champagne question

I had a few sips of champagne while I was pregnant. We were on a cruise and it was our anniversary. My DD is perfectly fine. I say go for it!
