winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
i know this is far ahead but i always wonder what i am going to do for Mady's first birthday!
She is born Jan 2. i wish we could have a backyard party but obviously it would be waaaaaaaaay too cold for that. not sure what to do b/c we dont have a lot of room for people yet i really dont want to have it at a place...

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
My DD was born in Jan. I plan to have a very small party at our house. We're just going to invite both grandparents and all of our siblings with their SO. With just those people, it will be 16 adults and 3 kids. We both have 3 siblings each.

I'm probably going to have it at Carosello's in Howard Beach. They have party rooms, and an arcade for the older kids to play.

great bday! that is my DDs birthday as well except she was born 2008. we rented a small hall and had close family and friends there for her, I decorated a little bit and had a bunch of food. everyone enjoyed it or atleast they said they did!

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
DD was born Dec 1st. I have already arranged to take that day off of work, and FH is taking a half day. I think we will get her 1 year pics done in the morning while FH works. When he gets out at noon, I'm planning on buying tickets for some show that is good for kids. I was thinking of some christmas show maybe. I have to do more research on that. Basically, just a "fun day" all about her. I'll probably also do a party for her that weekend. I don't have a big family and she's the only baby/kid, other than my friend who had a baby 2 weeks after me. So, it will probably just be a small family party at the house. She loves music, so I'm thinking of having lots of instruments and singing, kind of making it a musical theme.

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
Kaydyn was born Jan 24...we had a small party at an Italian restaurant. Just immediate family.
My sister actually recommended to me when she gets older that a hotel near us does pool parties for the kids during the winter. I can't wait until kaydyn is in school so we can have one.

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
DD's birthday is on Jan 9th. I'm already started to get my ideas together. I think most likely we'll have her party at O'Neill's in Maspeth. That's where I had my baby shower. Its mainly close friends and family with their kids. Since DD's birthday is on a Saturday and DH works, that night we'll have her grandparents & uncle over and order pizza and I'll make a cake. We'll have her party the next day. I'm also thinking of hiring a character & clown.

DO I really have to start worrying about this now? They will be 1 on Dec. 30th. Maybe we'll do something at my parents house.

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
DS was born 12/23. I started thinking about it recently. Will probably just do it in a restuarant. I don't want to think about it becuase I'm in no rush for him to turn one. I don't want it to go by fast and it already is.

DS was born 1/18. We're not doing a big 1st birthday, maybe pizzas and cake with close family members at my Moms house

My cousin had this problem and what she did was have two parties at her home. One for the family and the other was friends. She didn't have room to hold both groups and this actually worked out well.

We did a very small party at home with just family. I didn't want to lay out a ton of $$ for a birthday party by having it out somewhere.

I would only worry about it if you plan to book something b/c that is a busy week...
My DS' birthday isn't in the winter, by my DH is turning 30 12/29 and I'm already looking to book something

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
Colin is a Feb baby and for his we split the parties (we were still in a 2br co-op at the time). We did a kids party at My Gym in Plainview in the early afternoon and a smaller family party (~25 people I think) at home late afternoon / evening.
DC2 is due in early Sept and I can't tell you how excited I am at the prospect of a backyard 1st birthday party

Re: winter babies - what you are planning to do for their first birthday?
DS is born in early December, and our house is not big, so we weren't sure how we would have family and friends over. We wound up having his baptism in late November, and invited family over then, and had friends over the following week.
A lot of moms I know have had playdate birthday get-togethers for the kids rather than try and juggle children this young with family, and it works out really well. The playdates are regular playdate kind of things with slightly more elaborate refreshments.

i think about this from time to time.. DD was born late Feb.. We'll probably have a party at a restaurant. I really want to have a BBQ in our yard, but obviously that's not possible

We always do bday parties at our own house in my family so that's what we'll do for DD #2 in Feb.
