Winter Jackets for 1 year old & carseat issue
DS will 1 yr old in December. Can you guys share the kind of winter coats you have used in the past?
Last year I rememebr there being posts about it not being good to use bulky winter jackets with the car seats for safety reasons.....

I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do yet, but I think a lot of people take the jacket off before putting DC in the car seat.

I always get a thin jacket, like the kind that have fleece on the inside with a waterproof shell.

I got DD a very warm fleece from LLBean or Lands End that worked very well for the car. I got it big so I think I might even get 2 winters out of it.

I read that you are supposed to put the belt under the coat....we do it and it works...a bit of a pain but it does work

I will probably do the lighter coat wtih the fleece in side and then put a blanket on him..

I asked the car seat inspector when I turned DD's seat around last year. He said not to use bulky jackets b.c they can compress and the child can fly out of the seat. He said fleece ones are good and suggested lands end ones.
This is what we had for DD last year - it was warm enough for the car - and was not puffy. They make them in baby sizes too.
