Re: Wiping Baby's Butt--Dr told me not to use Wipes
they told us that too in the hospital, but that's just crazy! we used wipes and his butt was just fine. If she seems sensitive, try using the pampers sensitive wipes. I can't imagine going without wipes!

They also sell a diaper "area" spray to cleanse and freshen.

I was told the same thing by my ped but that only applies to their first month of life. I used to use a moist paper towel after she hit a month old I started using wipes.

They told us to moisten Viva paper towels. They are very soft and don't crumple and apparently are hypoallergenic.

They told me the same thing too. They said we could get these things from BRU to wipe the poop away.
I use the sensitive wipes, but I try to just use them for poopy diapers and then put A&D on to keep the moisture away from him.

Re: Wiping Baby's Butt--Dr told me not to use Wipes
I used wet cloths for the days I was in the hospital. Once we got home I used the wipes with no alcohol. After about 2 weeks I used the regular wipes with the alcohol.

OMG I would have to go through 1,000 cotton balls to wipe her poopy butt!
I have used wipes from day one. Never had a problem.

I don't wipe DD when she pees in her diaper. The diapers do a pretty good job of absorbing it all, so she is dry.

Re: Wiping Baby's Butt--Dr told me not to use Wipes
In the very beginning we took home the pack or two of the hospital dry wipes and used them at home. We'd just wet them with water and wipe. But after they were gone we started using wipes and she was fine.

Wipes. Never had a problem but I rarely use them for pee changes, just poop. DD has never really ever had a diaper rash.

Re: Wiping Baby's Butt--Dr told me not to use Wipes
I used wet paper towels at first, but I didn't know about Viva, so the paper towels would fall apart. Then I started using wet wash cloths and then rinsing it in the sink and then washing in the washing machine. Dr. said no wipes until 1 month. At 1 month I started using Pampers sensitive wipes, and he immediately got a red tush. I'm still using wipes, but now using Desitin. I don't know if he would have gotten a rash anyway... He has Dr. appt. on Monday. I'll ask then.
