Wireless Router ?
We rae moving and will have 4 computers. We were told that we could get a wireless router to use.
Do we need one for all 4 computers? More then one?
Any reccomendations? Obviously with 4 compuetrs we need a good one.
Can we be on all 4 computers at once with a router?
HELP...LOL

i just asked dh. he said that u should be able to use 1 router for all 4 computers

Yup - 1 wireless router for 4 computers and I know you can be on 2 at once, so I am assuming you can be on all of them at the same time!

i use the desktop and dh uses the laptop. we're on them at the same time with 1 router

yes, you can use all 4 at the same time, we have my mom's pc and my macbook connected through a router.
We have Belkin and it's pretty good so far.

I just bought a new wireless router.
Its a linksys wireless g one. It was 50 bucks at bestbuy.
much better than my belkin one which crrapped out on me all the time.
I highly recommend it!

Yes..you can run many connection off wireless. Your speed will drop because wireless is no way close to wired but an average user wouldn't even notice.
You can buy a 4 port linksys wireless router. It is by far the most popular. Then you also need to buy desktop wireless cards. I advise you install a card (if you have open slots) rather then the usb wireless card. The usb wireless are the worse IMO. Total for wireless router, 4 desktop wireless cards is 250 bucks (50 per item)
Good luck...to install a card is very easy and the instructions walk you though it

I would test it out before making the investment of the 4 wireless cards.
I have wireless. I live in an old house with many, many thick walls in between rooms. it's not quite a railroad apartment, but it's certainly not an open floorplan like many LI homes.
if I wanted to use my laptop in a room several rooms away from my router I would definitely need a booster.
Also, my wireless goes out or is severely diminished when anyone is using the microwave or a cordless phone.
Also for uploading pics and such, or in case wireless goes down, I'd set it up so one computer is wired.
I would try testing it, if you have a laptop, get the router and test the connection in all rooms with all different conditions so you can see if the wireless is going to work well in your home.

I have a net gear one- I paid $20 for it at staples
it works great- I have 1 desk top and 1 lap top going
but it has 3 more plugs and you can use as many laptops as you want I assume
