With all this talk about Clomid...some questions?
I have a feeling AF is on her way. I'm only 10 DP IUI however after a BFN this morning I kinda feel like roud two of the IUI's are on their way.
That being said, do you think the RE will suggest clomid the next round? I've read about so many of you dealing with this OHSS that I'm really nervous to try it. However I've read good things about people getting pregnant on the first month of it so I'm just a little apprehensive and want more info. Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA!
PS we are dealing with MF.

Usually OHSS is from injectables medications. I have never heard of it from clomid. I would talk to your dr and see what he thinks!

Oh ok, I guess I had them confused. So w/ clomid you can just produce too man eggs perhaps for the IUI?

Like Jen said, OHSS is usually a result of injectibles. I've never had a hyperstim issue on clomid - although it is possible.

OK so maybe I'm asking the wrong question then, is Clomid commonly the drug they give you when it's considered a "medicated IUI"?

Re: With all this talk about Clomid...some questions?
A medicated IUI can be with clomid or injectibles. Most places start with clomid and then move onto injectibles. Though all RE's and situations are different. Clomid is a little white chalky pill. You take them for 5 days (cycle times vary per RE, some start on CD3, CD5, CD7). I think (if I remember), each pill is 50mg (usually taken in 50, 100 or 150 doses by taking more than one pill a night). S/E are mostly commonly night sweats and b___tchyness. They are easier than injects and don't require as much monitoring b/c injects have the OHSS factor. I used to get 3-4 follies, I think younger folks might get more. Some people have no reaction to clomid and move to injects. I move to injects because of my weird shaped uterus. Clomid is known to thin out the lining of your uterus over time. And then I've read that you should take clomid no more than 6 cycles. To reduce the chances of thinning the lining. But, there are different opinions there too.
Sorry for your BFN. I hope that clomid works for you. Wait I just realized you say its only 10p IUI. I think it could be a little early. I would keep testing!!!!!

Re: With all this talk about Clomid...some questions?
I never got OHSS from Clomid, I got it from injectibles. Clomid will give more egg targets for your DH's sperm. Instead of producing only 1 egg, you might make 2 or 3. If natural IUI fails, usually adding Clomid is the next step. Remember that you are in charge and can go at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
ETA: A medicated IUI can refer to clomid or injectibles.
