working a lot in the first trimester?
I have 2 jobs. I work about 50 hours a week between the two jobs. I am sitting most of the day with both but I was not sure if the stress would hurt the babies development. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but this is my first and I don't know what to expect. Any feedback would be helpful. TIA!

I'm sure you're fine. Everytime I have a thought like that I think of women that used to work fields, do physical labor, or perform backbreaking farm work while pregnant

Re: working a lot in the first trimester?
If it's something you did before you're pregnant, you can usually continue it once you are pregnant. The exceptions are any activities where you have the potential to fall (especially on your stomach) or get banged up. (My OB said "no helmet activities" specifically.)
That being said, your body is going to change and you may not always feel 100%, which is perfectly normal. You *must* listen to your body. When you need to sit down, you have to sit down. When you need to use the bathroom, you have to go -- you can't hold it in long or you risk infections which could be harmful. You may need some extra rest, and you have to be able to take that time for yourself.
Depending on what you do, hopefully you're able to be flexible to stay in tune with your body. Talk to your OB about your schedule and what they suggest before you go spilling to your boss. You may be perfectly fine continuing the way things have been without any complications. Just don't be afraid to back down rather than push yourself over your new limits.

Re: working a lot in the first trimester?
yup I think your enemy will be exhaustion not stress - esp if you're used to dealing with all those hours!
I would just make a plan to make sure you have lots of healthy food and snacks and are super hydrated!

Re: working a lot in the first trimester?
I worked 50+ hours through both pregnancies and I have super laid back babies. In fact, I was in the thick of the financial market collapsing when I was PG with DS and SWORE he was going to be born with my anxiety but I was totally wrong

I am pregnant with my first as well. in my 26th week. For this whole pregnancy I've been working 60-70 hour weeks, sometimes more (304 all nighters). So far baby is ok. I'm just tired but my doctor says this is all ok. I wish he would say it isn't!

I worked 60+ hour weeks in my first tri, no problem. I felt great & never had m/s. I'm still keeping it up since I feel great. I can drop down at any time.

Thank you so much, you all made me feel a lot better!!! I just don't want to do anything that would harm the baby.
