Working Mom Guilt
I guess I am just having a bad day and need to vent. I just started a new job in August and the hours are 9-6 so I get home at about 7 and then they ask me to come in early to set up for meetings about 3 times a week (I don't get paid overtime). My daughter has constant ear infections, just had her adenoids removed a month ago and now has another ear infection!!!!!
I guess I just feel bad that I can't be with her when she is sick or to take her to dr. appts or to see her longer or to drop her off at school.
If I work in Queens, I won't get paid as much and we depend on my salary, so I'm just whining...sorry.

Working Mom Guilt
We all have those days. I only saw AJ to and from the train station. He took her into daycare after dropping me off and he brought her with him so I could spend time with her when he picked me up. You have to look at the positives. I had a job who would freak if I took a sick day and paid me so much more. Then I had a lower paying job who let me take as many days for aj as I wanted and never held them against me. But I felt guilt to work for missing out. Its just the balancing game we have to play. Just remember it will get better!
Good Luck

Thank you I know, I try to keep the mindset that I am working for her but sometimes it just gets you.

Re: Working Mom Guilt
I hear you. I wake up 7 1/2 mo old DD at 5a(!) to feed her and we are at my parents by 5:45a. I hate it and feel so guilty. Worst thing in the world to wake a sleeping baby that early and then to leave our warm, comfortable home.
I also have very long work hours and then to top it off, travel a ton for work. Off the top of my head, I will be gone a week in March, a week in April, the first 3 weeks of May , a week in July, a week in Nov and who knows what else.
I'm lucky that I have my husband and parents but mommy guilt can be overwhelming. Hang in there!

Re: Working Mom Guilt
We've all been there! I just keep in mind that if we both didn't work, we wouldn't be able to provide for DS like we can with 2 salaries. And I try not to make too many plans for the weekends so I can spend as much time as possible as a family then.

Re: Working Mom Guilt
EVERY single GOOD mother, no matter how much you do, how hard you work, how clean your house is, how well fed your kids are, how many instruments they play or languages they speak or sports they are involved in ........how happy, well adjusted, etc etc your chidern are ........you are ALWAYS going to think you could or should be doing it better, somehow doing more, somehow EVERYTHING you're doing isn't enough - it's just the nature of being a Mom.
Leaving for work, just increases the guilt x10 - ESPECIALLY if you don't "have to" work.
We all have those days - don't beat yourself up over it. You'll love your kids and they'll know it and they'll love you too - whether you're with them 4 hours a day or 14 hours a day or 4 days a year -

Love this. Should be pinned as a reminder.
