Working Moms: do your kids eat as late as you do?

I get home near 6:30 most nights, so by the time we eat it is 7:30-8:00. Jake winds up eating around the sametime, if not, after. He is 6 months so sometimes his last meal is after ours, and then gets the rest of his bottle as part of his sleepy time routine about 30-45 mins later.

Do you have daycare or whoever is home 1st feed your kids, or do you work them into your later schedule?

I pick DD up from daycare around 5pm

She eats dinner around 6-630pm

We eat around 7:30pm.

Honestly, it's whatever works best for you. When i worked late i used to have the sitter feed her dinner since it was easier for me to not have to do it when i got home with everything else i had to do. But if you don't mind the feeding after you eat dinner then i see nothing wrong with it.

We all eat about 6:30-7ish. DH picks the kids up earlier & starts dinner.

When they were babies, I fed them the minute I walked in the door (6:30ish) & then again a few hours after I ate.

We get home around 6:30-7pm and the kids eat leftovers from the night before about 20 mins after we get home. After they eat, DH takes them up to give them a shower and then I will start dinner. I then go up to tuck them in and read a story. DH and I usually eat between 8:30-9pm.

I feed the baby first thing, around 6:30, and we eat after he's asleep.

Jacob has been in daycare since 3.5 months. I get home at 5:30 but by the time DH gets home and makes dinner we eat between 6:00 and 6:30. Jacob has a snack on the way home to hold him over.

ETA: When he was a lot younger, I would feed him first and then we would eat but now he eats with us.

Noah has his dinner when he gets home, at about 6 pm. We eat after he goes to bed. Its not ideal, but it works fine.

We eat dinner as a family. That is important to me.

This means that they eat dinner late some nights.

We have basically just adjusted their meals, snacks and bedtime accordingly.

ETA: My sons are 8 & 6. When they were babies they had their own schedules. I'd say that once they hit 4 they started eating regularly with us. Maybe a little before that time.. I can remember Noah insisting on saying grace and he could barely get it all out!

My kids are only 8 months. I work from home and have a babysitter. They eat dinner around 6 and are in bed around 6:45. we eat at 8-9

Samantha will be 6 months on Sunday, she's not yet on solids, but right now we eat after she is in bed.

I pick her up at 5 from daycare she falls asleep in the car on the way home and will sleep for 45 minutes once home. She will wake up usually around 6:15ish

bath/bottle is 7:00 & 7:15

bedtime is 7:30


I am anticipating that once she starts on food next week that I will do her "dinner" at 6:30

I don't really see this changing much since she is exhausted and ready for bed by 7:30, sometimes earlier

I get home around 6:30. As long as he's awake, I feed DS as soon as we get home. DH and I usually don't eat until 8 or 9.

I get home at 6:30.

My babysitter feeds DS dinner at 5:30/6PM so that when I get home I can play with him for 30 minutes/1hr and then I give him his bath and put him to bed around 7:30.

Then I make dinner for DH and myself. We eat at 8:30.

I get home around 6:15. My MIL watches DS so she feeds him dinner around 5. He goes to bed at 7.

Now that he's totally on solids - DH feeds him around 6P (I get home anywhere from 630 to 730). So DH will wait for me to eat. DS goes to sleep around 730ish. So we eat after he's asleep.

I don't get home early enough for us to all eat together. I don't want DS eating and going to bed immediately after. I'm hoping my schedule will change soon, so we can eat as a family.

When he was on formula and cereal, I would have DH wait until I got home. If I was going to be late, I just gave him his last bottle before bed.

No, Ryan eats 6:30 or 7PM. DH & I usually don't get to eat until 9 / 9:30PM (I get home around 7PM and DH does what he needs to do and then starts dinner, I like that time to hang with Ryan and don't want to be making a meal - so we sit down after he's asleep).

ETS: On weekends I try to get stuff ready during Ryan's evening nap and we all eat together.

DH gets DS from daycare and he normally cooks since he is home first. Most nights we eat together around 6:30pm. If DS is really hungry he will eat before I get home but we all sit down together at "dinner time" even if DS is having his desert or fruit.

DD eats at 5 at my moms house...i dont get done work until 5:30 and dont get home until around 6:30 by the time i pick her up...no way she would be able to wait that long

No, DD eats as soon as she gets home with DH. When I get home she's usually finished or nearly finished, and then I bathe her and put her to bed. Then we cook dinner for us.

Eventually, she'll eat with us but right now she goes to bed at 7:30 so that's really not an option since I don't get home until 6:45-7:00.

I usually try to eat as a family whenever possible. But on nights when I work I don't get home until 8pm. Therefore, my Dad picks up DS from daycare & they eat together around 6pm, i eat when after I get DS in bed.

Both my kids eat dinner at daycare at around 530p. We usually don't get home until at least 630p. DH and I don't eat until 9p.

We usually give the kids a little snack around 7ish.

As the kids get a little older, I'd like to eat together everynight...like I did with my family when I was young

I generally don't leave work until 5:30/6. By the time I get to my ILs it's about 6:30 and by the time I get home it's about 7:30. We felt like it was too late for Kaydyn to eat since we start her bedtime routine around 8:30/9 so my MIL feeds her around 6pm before we pick her up.
