Re: Working Moms wanting more kids

I am the breadwinner and benefit carrier so I have to return to work. DH's job is flexible so he is a SAHD during the day and he works PT in the evenings. It works out fine.....except for missing "family time" during the week....we make up for it on weekends though.

I chose "most likely" but it would be on a different schedule. I will probably work from home at that point and work even less hours than I do now. I would have to re-evaluate at that time.

I am lucky that I work in a business that allow me to do "what I want".

With #2, I would like to take off more time than I had with DD (only 4 months). I'm a teacher and hope to at least take a school year off, and then see from there. However, I really do LOVE my job so it's definitely not a matter of that -- I would just like to have more time with my child(ren). Of course, this depends on our financial situation at the time, but I am REALLY hoping it lends itself to me taking a good chunk of time off.

Re: Working Moms wanting more kids

I just had my first so I am still on maternity. But I really dont plan on number 2 for 3+ years. Our plan is that I will be home with DS for a year or so before having child #2. And then stay home with #2.

To me I wanted more to be home with DS later when he was more aware of mommy not being around. I want to be able to be class mom and pick him up at the bus stop. Which is why I am going back full time now, so we can better prepare for the future.

I will never be able to stay home with kids unless we win the lottery! Chat Icon

ETA - to be honest, I don't think I am cut out to be a SAHM - after a few days with all-Cailen-all-the -Time, work looks very appetizing! Chat Icon

right now i work 3 short days, if we have a second in the next 3 years, i would prob go back the most, 2 days a week. Besides where we will be financially, it would also depend on the daycare situation at the time, such as if we had family watching the new baby like we do with our DS now. Unfortunately and fortunately, i make great $$ working even part time and we have family and a friend of a friend watching him so it makes sense for me to be back at work now.

If you asked me before Christmas, I would have said no, that I wanted to be a SAHM, but after the holidays I realised how much I enjoy the balance of working and children. When I have my next one, I will have a year off and then go back to work for a 3 day over 5 schedule (so working something like 25 hours over 5 days) that way I can go into the office at around 9.30 am and finish at around 3 pm. Once I have 1 child in school, daycare (or a childminder) won't be that expensive.
