the only agency I saw on there is Arnold, and they only have offices in NY and Boston.

Other than that-- creative types are SOL.

Right, and Arnold isn't a media sales/buying firm. GRRR. Oh well. Working in the "mad men" industry has its flaws

I think it's awesome you get 12 weeks paid! I get nothing paid at all. I can stay home for 12 weeks unpaid and I get to keep my job when I come back, that's it. Chat Icon Chat Icon

My company isn't on there either....didn't think it would be. We have such crappy family benefits.

Re: Working Mother's Magazine... 100 Best Companies

I get this magazine. I think it's great, but i felt kind of bad because they do a spotlight article on a working mother each month and this month was a woman from Lehman Brothers. I also thought it was kind of sad to see both Lehman Brothers and Merill Lynch in the top 100. Shocking to see how bad the economy has gotten and how fast.

It might be skewed but it gives me hope that some day things will change in this world for working families.

Re: Working Mother's Magazine... 100 Best Companies

Would have been nice to see a list of top 100 countries to point out how poor the policies are here in the USA.

I worked for a smaller company that would have made the list. 12 weeks paid for Mom's or Dads, 100% Adoption and partial IVF assistance. Family time off above FMLA and regular sick days, Insurance available to all employees (full and part time) and their families, including same sex partners.

I didn't return after having DD but was offered an extended leave of absence. I declined as I do not want to work in NYC while I raise my kids.

Re: Working Mother's Magazine... 100 Best Companies

My company is in the top 10. They have been on this list for 4 years now. Yet - I know they are going to give me a hard time about working from home after I have the babies. THey would rather I quit than let me telecommute - and to me, that is the most important thing I can have as a working mother.

However, I have to say that their benefits are excellent.

My aunt just came from Europe and asked me when I was done working, I said I'm working till the end, she looked at me like I had five heads, in Austria, where s he currently lives, they make you stop working at 7 mos, and then you get TWO YEARS FULLY PAID and your job is waiting for you!!!!!!!!!! UM, I say we all move there....

I agree 12 weeks paid is a HUGE deal! I get zilch! Just the 12 weeks unpaid FMLA. I also work in a typically male dominated field (Civil Engineering) it's time they catch up a little with the times Chat Icon
