Working parents: How do you transport your toddler to and from preschool?
Just curious as now that we are researching options, it seems like most programs are only a few hours per day. DH and I both work and cannot do the drop off/pick up so it doesn't look like our son will be able to go to school until the school district bus picks him up for Kindergarten! Anyone else have this problem?

I am in the same quandry, interested in hearing the comments
I COULD theoretically pic up dd at lunch and bring her to the sitters but most programs (at least 1/2 day ones) by me do not start until 9am and I get to work by 8:15

I found a program that is full day and offers before and after care. It was hard to find. There aren't many out there.

This is what I was going to and take an early lunch.

A lot of preschools have early care and late care. Our school has early care from 7:30-9am, and late care, from 3pm-6pm.

Re: Working parents: How do you transport your toddler to and from preschool?
I take Noah to school in the morning, and I have a childminder who picks him up and he spends the afternoons with her, she is great and he loves her to bits! My husband picks him up in the evenings, so it works out pretty well! They have after school club for kids in the PM session of school, but that doesn't work for us

There are a few children in my kids classes that come and go with SAH parents of classmates.

My sister picks up DD and watches her for the rest of the day. (DD only goes to school 2 days a week and I am home the 2nd day)

Re: Working parents: How do you transport your toddler to and from preschool?
This is such a stressor for me!
This year, with DD only going 2 days/week, my parents have been taking her back and forth (they have always watched her 2 days).
Next year, when school is 4 days, I am not sure what we will do. It looks like we will have to have our nanny take a cab back and forth with her. Not so happy about that option - money-wise and safety-wise (but I'm sure that part will be fine) - but I don't know what else to do!

Re: Working parents: How do you transport your toddler to and from preschool?
When I paid for DS to go to nursery/pre-k, he was on the bus and was there a full day. I had him bused to an after-care program until I could pick him up after work.
Now, he's in public pre-k and I drop him off at 9:00 AM and head to work (all within 2 mile radius). I pick him up at the end (11:30AM) and take him to his after school program. DH picks him up at 2:15PM.
It seems that those parents who work do so locally so there's more flexibility. I do see some nannys/mother's helpers picking up kids.

I am in NJ but my local YMCA daycare has both daycare and a separate all day preschool program with pre & after care at the daycare---perhaps there is a Y program similar on LI?
