Working Parents...Please come in..
SO my DD starts special end Preschool tomorrow at DDI. She will be getting picked up at 11:05 and dropped off at 3:40. We just ran into a problem as my mother in law who usually watches both my kids can now no longer do it. So I need to find somewhere that I can send both my kids. my daughter wouldn't be there the whole day only until the bus picks her up at 11:00. my 1 year old would be there all day. My DH has to be at work by 7:45 and I leave by 5:45am. So my question is what do all you working parents do? I don't know where to go or who to call. I am so upset as this leaves me with literally no time to find someone. I also did not expect this to happen so it is not in our budget. On top of it all We only have one car right now so my husband will need a car. I don't know what to do? We are in Holbrook so if anyone has a recommendations id greatly appreciate it.

Re: Working Parents...Please come in..
Honestly, if you can take a few sick days to work this out with a clearer head, I would go that route.
Maybe look into a SAHM looking to make some extra cash.
Unfortunately I don't think we should always rely on family and need a back up plan.

Re: Working Parents...Please come in..
It's really hard! I leave the house ridiculously early like you. My DH will drop DS off at daycare at 6:45am when they open, and then the bus will pick up my son from day care at 8am to go for his full day of special ed preschool, and then will be bused back to daycare at 3pm.
I took off today and tomorrow (I'm gonna stalk the bus to preschool to make sure he's ok). Unfortunately it might be hard to find 2 spots in a daycare at such late notice. Maybe try care.com, sittercity, or check if your town has a local MOMs facebook page and ask them for someone who might want to watch your kids.
Good luck! It's stressful enough having them start preschool without having to rearrange your other child care arrangements.

I would see if someone can come to you, that would make life easier. You can have them put your DD on the bus from your house. Isn't there a Sachem Moms group on FB? You could probably find someone in there.

Working Parents...Please come in..
Join the Sachem mom's FB group. I'm pretty sure a bunch of people on there are looking to do this type of thing. I'm looking to do it myself and live in Holbrook. But I'm in the middle of a big project at work and can't leave now. If you are still looking at the end of the year fm me and we can work something out. Also I have childcare exchange with a friend. She watches my son while I work and I watch her while she works. Neither of us spend any money on childcare. This doesn't work for all situations but maybe you know someone you can do something like this with.

Any updates?
I think the FB moms groups are a great resource and I love the idea of the child care exchange.
Hope you work this out....

Sorry you are going through this. Since you only have one car I also think it may be easier to have someone come to you. Maybe try care.com or sittercity.com to try and find a nanny that would come to you.
