dh and I are going to the U2 concert in two weeks and were thinking of taking the rest of the week off.

the concernt is at the Meadowlands so I was thinking maybe to go to ghetto sesame place Chat Icon or Dorney Park (they have the new Snoopy land-has anyone been?)

but we could also head out east, go to splish splash and hang out on the beach with family.

or, we could do something totally other.....

what would YOU do with a four day weekend?

i would go out east and do the aquarium and the beach - I'd skip Splish Splash with Luce. He's not really old enough yet, and if you wanna talk about ghetto.... Chat Icon

The beach will be MORE than enough to entertain him! get a 99 cent pail/shovel and a few plastic cups and he'll be all set.
eta: i took a few days off last august and we did a "staycation", too. We did the Central Park zoo one day, the beach, Riverhead aquarium, etc. It was great!

Other Chat Icon

I'd drive out to Lancaster and hit up Dutch Wonderland (Luce is at a great age for it), drive around Amish country, hit up the Strassburg Railroad and Hands on House.

This is actually exactly what we're planning on doing Chat Icon

If that's not an option, then I'd probably do a day at Dorney, a day at the Central Park Zoo and then chilling at the park OR a day at the Bronx Zoo, and a day at the NY Aquarium in Brooklyn.

We're buying the membership for the zoo which gives you free admission to the 5 places (Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Bronx Zoo, and NY Aquarium). It's $99 for the year (Luce doesn't pay until he turns 3 so the $99 membership would work for you and your DH). So that's an option.

hmmm these are all great ideas.

I am pretty sure we are going to Coney Island at least once this summer. and we may go to the Prospect Park Zoo on Sunday.

I'll have to talk to dh and see what he wants to do. he is the driver!

D, yes, definitely let me know!!! thanks

I'd go away. Definitely. Maybe rent a beach house? Something laid-back and fun!

a friend of mine went to Camp Snoopy and loved it...

we went and i did not have the same experience. I had issues with 2 of the rides. One of them whips the kids around like crazy & had i not been on the ride with Emma - she would've been hurt - as the seatbelt wasn't substantial enough.

the second ride - it was a choo choo train ride where i sat in the seat behind Emma. The train lurched once and she hit her head on the back of the seat - so i put my hand there. It happened 3 more times where it lurched & she hit her head on my hand. Had i not have been on the ride with her (not really designed for adults) - she would've had a major bruise on the back of her head.

I wrote to Dorney and was EXTREMELY dis-satisfied with their response. They assured me that the rides are safety tested & that they are just fine - never mind that my daughter hit her head. I will not put her on a ride there again for a LONG LONG time.

I would probably go out east and hit up the beach. DD loves the beach and I feel like we'd be able to spend more quality time that way. At 20 months, I still feel like the theme parks are a bit much for her and I know my day would be full of trying to schedule everything around her nap, the drive, etc. And then there's the weather and crowds (I'm crazy by the way...if you couldn't tell Chat Icon).
