Would it upset you if your MIL didn't know when your birthday was?
Cause mine has no idea.
I have been with DH for 5 years and she always forgets, every.single.year. DH usually calls to remind her and she calls me the next day with some type of BS excuse as to why she didn't call on my birthday.
I have always made a point to send cards and gifts for her and her girlfriend's birthdays, but she can't write mine in her calendar?
So, should I say something to her? Just let her forget again? I told DH not to call her to remind her this year...

Yes, esp since mine is the day before hers was!!
Sorry about your MIL, but don't let it get to you. Just celebrate with the people who DO remember and don't let her spoil your special day.

no because i forget hers too! ...and our birthdays are 8 days apart!
i would only be upset if my own parents forgot. i mean dont get me wrong, MIL's very kind to me and we get along great! but it wouldnt bother me at all if she forgot. in fact, she didnt call me this year. she just gave me a card and a present when i saw her later in the week.

we've been together almost 7 years and no one in DH's family has any clue when my birthday is.
It doesnt bother me at all, but ifound it funny that MIL dropped off a cake for us on my birthday- had no clue it was my bday- and has NEVER baked us a cake before... yet, DH felt bad tellingher it was my bday because he didnt want to make her feel guilty.
I think we're all just a little bit crazy.

DH and I have been together for 9 years. She hasn't forgotten my b-day but I don't think it wouldn't bother me much if she did. Then again, DH is one of 7 kids so I would cut her some slack.
Now if someone in my family did? Then I would be hurt.

12 birthdays here and its never been recognized. They also forget I exist at Christmas as well. Not just with buying me a gift, but with only thanking DH for the gift we get them.
They do so much in life to upset me that this is just expected...

Personally it would bother me because I'm not very close with my mil anyhow, But she actually does remember my b-day, mine & dh annivarasary, and all of the childrens b-days. It's nice that she does but strange at the same time because as I mentioned we're not very close, we barley see each other but we do talk on the phone. I would only be upset if it was my mom who forgot to call.

Mine doesnt know when mine is and frankly I dont care. The only people who need to know, in my opinion, are my husband and my mother. I don't get bent out of shape about birthdays. And I do not beat myself up for forgetting other people's birthdays. My last name is not Hallmark.

I definitely think it would bother me some.
But let me make a suggestion.
For the holidays - get her a calendar with all of the holidays, birthdays and anniversaries in it.
My MIL gives all of the kids (6) a calendar for Christmas and it is all typed in for them already. Let me know if you want the company name.

Mine JUST started to remember my birthday this year...not that she got me anything...
We have to get her something on her b-day though..
Ahh, I could go on but why bother...
I'm sure someone on that side of the family is reading this and will report back to her...

We celebrate our birthdays together each year (3 days apart) so yes I would be mad if she forgot mine! DH's family is BIG on birthdays and celebrations. So they do get insulted if the close family forgets to call on their birthdays. So in turn, they all try to be good about remembering everyone's birthdays.

My MIL sometimes remembers, sometimes she doesn't....very strange.
She is not big on bdays but really sometimes I get a card, sometimes a call, sometimes nothing. I've learned to get used to it because I don't think its done in a mean spirit. In the 5 years that I've been married I have never gotten a bday present from her.
My family though makes a big deal out of bdays and so do my friends so I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

Thanks for the answers ladies I don't think in the long run it makes a difference, but it just annoying that I remember things, but she could care less, KWIM?

We are together almost 10 yrs and she has a hard time remembering HIS Bday, nevermind mine. It has become a running joke if either of us get a card.

My MIL does know when my bday is...not off the top of her head but I did make it to her calendar.
Yes, I would be upset if she kept forgetting. I just feel like it is very unthoughtful especially when I try to do so much for them.
