Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
Depending on your experience, please tell me what you love or hate about your City Mini Double or City Select Double.
Without price being an issue, this is what we think of both without having first hand experiance. We are having a really hard time deciding between the two. We like/dislike them for different reasons.
City Mini Double: pro: Very roomy for both kids to spread their legs out. pro: Seems easy to handle/control being a petite woman. con: Looks like basket space is small (we have the city mini single & basket space stinks) con: Worried about taking a side by side to the mall or any store & not fitting within aisles (90% of the time it's me alone without DH) con: Cannot use a snack tray on older DC seat until baby DC outgrows the infant carrier since the bar wouldn't fit until the carrier attachment is gone.(DS loves his snack tray)
City Select: pro: Love that if I wanted to I could adjust the seats to any position. pro: The double can convert back to a single once DC#1 outgrows a stroller. pro: Great basket space. pro: slightler narrower than the double city mini so better to navigate through aisles(not much, maybe only 3 or 4 inches when we eye balled it) con: front to back seats will take a little time for me to get used to controlling stroller (felt like I was drving a bus for the 5 min I pushed it in the store) con: Seems like the leg room would be tight for my kids which will be 2.5yrs apart. DC#1 is 2yrs right now & when we sat him in the seats, it seemed like he was already cramped-can't imagine what it's like with 2 kids in there & with DC#1 ocassionally in the stroller until 4 - 4.5years, this is a big concern.

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I am having the same debate with myself. I like all the options of the select and the style but the seat and leg room seems so small. My DD is only 14 months and she would need to bend her knees to fit her legs above the metal bar already. I can't imagine how tight it will get in a few short months.
Is the Citi mini really just 4-5 inches wider? I am leaning towards the citi mini double GT with the tires...I think it will be more comfortable for the kids and much lighter and easier to get in and out of the car. The select is very heavy to lift, especially into an SUV or out of a sedan trunk.
Curious if others have opinions too!

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I have both and honestly have used both a handful of times. My older one is 3 and baby is 7 mos. now ill, prob use the city more when going to the mall or something..but barely use the double anything and still use my single bc a. My older one is at school most of the day so when running errands its usually just with the baby and b. my older one walks most places....the city select is a boat, it's soooooooo long but comfortable...while the city mini is just easy...so I'm of no help in a nutshell

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I looked at both and while the price tag of the city select is insane, we are going with that one.
First, the side by side is bound to be a big pain in any store - yes it fits through the standard doorway frame, but I can't imagine it fitting through any clothing aisles etc. I am alone on the weekends so if I need to run errands, I need the stroller to fit wherever I'm going. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the stroller in a main aisle while I shop in the inner sections.
Also I live in Queens and a side by side just seems less convenient.
I am not thrilled with the price of the city select, nor with the weight (geez), but the convenience of being a single or a double, the different ways to accomodate the seats, the huge basket and the ease of controlling it seems to outweigh the cons.
I'm sure once we have it I will find something to annoy me about it, lol. But for now it seems like the best option.
My two will be 26 months apart.

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
We're not there yet and needing to look at doubles, but is one easier to assemble/unfold than the other? Perhaps the answer to that might help?
There is another mom at our daycare that has the select but I haven't seen her use it in months, and seems to use her ride-on more now. But she's also 8.5 mo preg with her 3rd so that might have something to do with it.
edited for a typo.

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
We bought the Select. I haven't used it as a double yet because I'm not due until next month. What I don't like about it... - It's hard to get into the trunk of my Jeep because it's a bit heavy and the trunk is higher up since it's an SUV. I'm not sure if this is difficult because I am 8 months pregnant or because it really is that heavy.
It's big. It's not as wide as a double but I am so used to using the Maclaren Techno that I could easily bring him to the midwife with me and throw the stroller in the corner. Today I brought him and the stroller took up the whole little office and the midwife had to squish in between him and the bed thingy in order to measure my stomach.
I got a really good deal on the stroller but that's it, it was just the stroller. We had to buy the second seat, the cup holder thingy, and the infant seat adapter. I also got a mommy hook because the handle is so wide that my bag couldn't go over it.
I like: It steers so well
The basket is so large and has a zipper making it easier to get to
I like that it's now a single, will be a double when we need it, if I go out with just one of the boys then it goes back to single. I won't need to get another single after my oldest is out of the stroller.

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I have the City Mini Double. I went to Homegoods, Michaels and Target with it yesterday and had no problems getting in and out of aisles.
I've never used the select, but I knew I didn't want a tandem stroller, so I didn't even bother looking (plus, at $400 + accessories the Mini was $$$ enough)
ETA: I kept my Chicco travel system stroller for when I only have 1 child with me. My older DD is almost 2 and likes to walk on her own, but doesn't listen all that well l so I prefer to have her strapped it.
ETA again: regarding basket space. I think the mini double has plenty of basket space, the problem is access.

I folded up the stroller in BBB and tried to lift it and I barely could. I consider myself in pretty good shape too and I really don't know if I will be able to get two kids in the car and whatever else I have and lift that into my SUV. I really want this to be the stroller for me but I just don't know if it's going to work. How is it size wise for your current DC?

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
i have double mini i love it
yes i sometimes do not fit through isles but overall im okay with moving around
basket fits a lot but sometimes hard to get into there are also compartments behind childrens seats that fits alot
the select to me looked like kids could outgrow faster and i wasnt in the mood to take things apart with two kids
also the infant seat you cant take it apart to put in car it takes up a lot of space

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I swore I was going to buy the City Mini Double for my twins. I had my heart set on it. Then I went to Buy BuyBaby with my Mom and after I asked the salesman a couple of questions, my Mom helped me buy the Select.
Pros: The main reason I wanted the Mini is because I wanted both kids to have a birds eye view. With the Select, they do. It's the only double stroller I know of that has stadium seating where the child in the back is a little higher than the front and can see over the front canopy.
Not only does it fit through aisles in the stored better, but in parking lots to walk in between cars instead of all the way around. I hadn't thought of this until I read a review that mentioned this.
It has bigger back wheels and can do a wheelie if you need to go up a curb where there is no ramp.
I love that they can face each other. I love the hand brake.
A woman from our Mommy & Me class has this for her 2 year old twins and she loves it. They are tall and don't deem to have a problem with height. But I do not have personal experience in this area.
I LOVE this stroller ! I didn't think I would. I don't feel like I am pushing a wall.
Cons: If both babies are rear facing (facing me), it's hard to see the child in the rear and that child only has side views. But while newborns, it's the same view as the double snap n go and now they want to face forward anyway. It is heavy. But: it takes up less room in the car. From what I remember it's not that much heavier than the Mini, but at that weight you notice even a couple of pounds. What I didn't like about the Mini when I tried lifting it - I couldn't find a good spot to grab it and it doesn't lock so it kept opening whereas the Select snaps shut.
The Select is a great all around stroller. I think about getting a Mini for strolls if I can get a good deal or maybe a Combi. But then I think, will I use it? The Select is so much better on sand and gravel.
Everyone I know who has the Mini is happy. It depends on your needs. HTH

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
my girls are 24 months apart. we have the city mini double.
i tried the city select before the baby was born and my oldest seemed like she was at maximum capacity in the seat. for that reason we went with the city mini double.
i use this stroller for walks in the neighborhood as well as in the mall. i have never had any problems fitting in a doorway. most stores i can manuever fine through. smaller stores can be an issue, like gymboree, but that goes for any stroller.
i am really happy with it. if i go anywhere with 2 adults, i bring 2 single strollers. that is easier than any double. i used the snap and go for the baby last year and my oldest in a maclaren umbrella stroller.
if you have any questions you can FM me. I also bought the sit and stand- hated it and never used it. gave it to a friend.

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I have twins and have the citi mini off the top of my head I will list my favorite things and not so favorite.
pros -the sunshade is great -sooo easy to steer I can steer it with one hand and pull a shopping cart behind me no prob -yes the basket is kind of small but if you unsnap the side it is pretty easy to access -it folds easily and it is light weight. It is so easy to throw into the back of an suv/van -fits through aisles of stores easily and doors (it can get a bit difficult in tight clothing stores) -it is easy to recline and reclines fully
cons: -even with the 2011 model it really doesn't sit upright. There is a new velcro strap that pulls it more upright but it is a PITA to do. -the belly bar/snack tray are a bit high (my twins are 13 months) -like i said above it can be tough in clothing stores but I would imagine any side by side double would

Re: Would love stroller advice from moms with either of these double strollers- City Mini Double or the City Select Double
I have the city select for my boys who are 20 months apart. I love a lot of things about it, probably all the things pp have mentioned. My 3.5 year olds still likes sitting in it but he is on the smaller side. I don't know if he would feel comfortable if he was bigger. He also gets a kick out of it if he gets to ride on top, since that is usually his brother's spot. As far as it being heavy, it is, but I have 4'11" and lift it into an SUV so it's not impossible. I think I would rather that, than have to keep a double and a single in my stroller, since I frequently only have DS2 with me when DS1 is in school. Then when I have them both, I use it for the mall, or walks. The only things to take note of, although they say there are many positions for the seats, when you have the carseat in, and when both seats are in, they only recline so far. I remember being disappointed that I couldn't recline one or the other fully when I tried for the first time. Also, I know that positioning the seats facing each other seems like its a great possibility but I have never done it. Can't imagine torturing myself that way! I did love that I could face DS2 towards me, once out of the carseat for several months. Then turning it outward so that he would forget I was there. It's a great stroller but of course it's not perfect, but nothing is!

yeah, I didn't look up the dimensions but when we compared the two strollers back to back, they weren't too far off at all. I wouldn't even say they were 5" apart - seemed less to me.

This is what I'm worried about - that DS would outgrow it due to his size before he is ready to give the stroller up. He is just 24 months now & 35 inches tall. My boys will be 28 months apart. How tall is your older DS, if you don't mind me asking?
Do both of your boys seem to be comfortable when sitting in the strolelr together? What are their or your favorite seat combinations? tia
thanks everyone!!
