No you are not wrong for feeling that way. Our doctor recommended DD not be around little kids because she is susceptible to a lot of stuff right now. Your friend should know this, being a mother!!!

Thanks, I will just tell her today. I know she is going to be offended but I realize that avoiding the her is goign to make things worse...

I would just tell her that I am a new mom and am not comfortable having other children around DC yet. Just say, I hope you understand. There will be other opportunities in the future for her 2 children to meet your DS. If she's really a true friend, she'll understand and honor your wishes. Chat Icon

BTW, I totally understand b/c DD was 3 weeks early, had jaundice, colic & clubbed feet. I was so protective of her. Other people can't tell you how to feel about it but you have a right to those feelings. Don't let other people make you feel bad about what you are experiencing emotionally. You are just doing the best that you know how to do!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Technically, the baby still has Mommy's immunity, so you shouldn't be that concerned about him catching anything. Just ask the children not to touch him or make sure everyone washes their hands before touching him.

I don't blame you. My firend brought her two girls over when Charlie was 8 days old. I couldn't complain though becuaew she brought a full dinner.

If she is your good friend can't you be honest with her..no feeling should be hurt. Just say i would love for you to come by but the doc has advised me that the baby shouldn't be around other kids until he gets his shots.

I would just tell her that the pediatrican prefers that the baby not be around children yet, as they tend to carry more germs, etc. She should understand that, having children of her own.

perfect advice, this is what I told peopleChat Icon

Re: Would you be annoyed is a friend wanted to bring her two children over when your child was a week old?

NO WAY ABSOLUTELY NOT! I HAD A FRIEND ASK WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT A WEEK IF THEY COME OVER WITH THERE DUGHTER WHOM IS 9 BECUASE SHE LOVES BABIES AND I SAID FLAT OUT NO WAY, THE CHILDREN GERMS ARE THE WORST. IF YOU FEEL BAD JUST BLAME IT ON THE DOCTORS.

BUT I WOULDNT LET ANY CHILDREN NEAR HER.

YOU CAN'T RISK THAT, PLUS THE FACT PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE MORE COMMON SENCE THEN THAT WHEN IT COMES TO AN INFANT.

I BOUGHT MY DD TO AN OUTDOOR PARTY WHEN SHE WAS EXACTLY 1 MONTH. EVERYONE WANTED TO HOLD HER AND I SAID NOPE, I DONT WANT HER PASSED AROUND LIKE A FOOTBALL. PEOPL WERE UPSET AND SAID STUPI COMMENTS LIKE I WAS OVER PRPTECTIVE BUY WHATEVER, ITS MY CHILD.External Image
