Would you be pissed?
You can't help how you feel… But is there anyway deep down that maybe you're very upset over your grandma and you kind of latched onto this anger for this situation as a distraction? Sometimes we humans do things like that without even reaLizing it. It's easier to be angry than hurt, that sort of thing. KWIM ?
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm not gonna judge u on how you feel but to the majority of people.. This reaction over this may be strange. And that's why maybe just maybe it's a deeper thing than it appears? Is that possible?
If I were your coworker I wouldn't have texted or reached out about lotto (I would about your loss) but I would have just spotted you the money.
Again so sorry for your loss :(

I def think its why Im MORE hurt actually. I know some people wouldn't think anything of it, but it is what it is, I was back at work today like it was a regular day and this happened to be part of it. They didn't even tell me, one new girl on the team said something to me about how many tickets we had and I was like, Oh, I didn't realize you guys played . I guess, knowing me, they know they could've texted me, but I just feel like if it were someone else on the team, I would've spotted the money for them or suggested we wait until today. I would've done it for them, which makes it suck more.

My grandmother passed away this weekend. I was out from work on Mon and Tues for services, coworkers knew this and knew the reason why I was out. While I was out, the entire dept went in on like 250 powerball tickets together. Not ONE person texted me or called to see if I wanted to partake. I am soooooo pissed, but actually more hurt. These are not just everyday coworkers, these are people who we consider friend, we have worked together for over 10 years, all of us, spend all day, every day together. We tell each other everything, we know everything about each others personal lives, etc. Actual friends.
I don't know if Im more pissed or just hurt, especially under the circumstances that I was AT MY GRANDMOTHERS FUNERAL and that people I have known for 10 years didn't think of me. No one went, hey, someone should text her and let her know. They also knew Id be back in today, so they could've waited. Additionally, when we played last week during the first drawing, I spotted $5 for someone who wasn't there.
I couldn't even look at any of them all day today after I found out.
How do you know they didn't think about you. If it were me I would not have called someone who was at their grandmothers funeral. If it were me the last thing on my mind would have be the power ball.

I wasn't thinking about it at all, until someone who didn't realize I wasn't included mentioned it to me.

Sorry about your Grandmother. Unless you often say no to pools, they should have put in for you.

Would you be pissed?
I guess I see your point. I put in for a coworker who was at a client yesterday. But it was only $4. Did each person contribute a substantial amount? Maybe that's why they didn't cover you. Honestly, instead of being upset just tell them you want in. Go buy X number of tickets so you have an equal share.Snap a picture of both and be on your way. If your close with these people and contributing I highly doubt they say no. It is an awkward situation being you had a close relative die, maybe they didn't want to bring it up at the time and then everyone just expected the onus to fall on someone else to ask you. If you say you're close with these people I highly doubt they discluded you out of malice.

Re: Would you be pissed?
So sorry for your loss.
I get what you're saying. You're not pissed about just the lottery, you're pissed about no one even thinking to include you on something you've gone in on before with no just co-workers, but friends. And I'm sure you're more upset because you're just in an upset state of mind to begin with.
I would never call someone who was out for a funeral, I would however just front the money, knowing that this is something you've gone in on previously. Unless it was a substantial amount to contribute.

Would you be pissed?
They probably felt awkward asking you to enter the powerball lottery when your grandmother just passed away. If I was handling the office pool I would have automatically included you in it, so they were wrong for that.

Re: Would you be pissed?
Yeah, I'd be pissed. If that was one of my close co-workers, I wouldn't even call you to bother and ask. I'd just throw in $5 for you.
ETA: Sorry for your loss.

I wouldn't be upset that they didn't contact you while you were out for bereavement leave, but for the fact that they didn't just automatically spot you, especially since you were apart of the previous 2 office pools.

Re: Would you be pissed?
I am sorry for your loss. I totally understand your point. My coworkers put in twice for me. I was not there when they collected so they put in for me each time. There is also one guy who has been out sick for months and she put in for him too. Which was super sweet! They made sure everyone in our dept. was counted for. So if they left me out I would have been upset too. Especially since you just put in for another coworker who wasn't there. Maybe they just weren't thinking or as caring as you are, that you thought of the other person no there. If you are as close as you say you are than I would just mention it to them and say Hey guys don't forget about me! My friend worked at Costco when they hit the lotto and she didn't put in. Well guess what..her coworkers gave her NOTHING! They said sorry you didn't put in and that was that. Money can change people and that's so sad.

I know you are passed. But I have to say that I think they did the right thing.
I understand the relationship you have with them. But I don't think anyone in their right mind would interrupt your grieving for powerball tickets.
Could they have waited? Sure. But still "hey your grandma died, wanna buy tickets?" I say give them a small break.
And I'm so sorry for your loss.
But she is saying these are people that are good friends, whom she has worked with for 10 years. They are not people she just met and was unsure what to do. A simple text later after funeral services would have been fine with the poster.
No need to even text or interrupt her at all - just throw in the money for her and when she was back to work tell her you spotted her the $5. Sounds like they are all close enough to know she would want to be a part of the group tix and would reimburse the person who paid for her. I'd be really annoyed that no one thought to include me.

Re: Would you be pissed?
Yeah I'd be upset that no one put the money in for me. Years ago at work if the lottery got high enough a group of us would put in $. I always said that if I'm not in work that day and they are collecting include me. In fact a few of us no longer work there but we are still included. We meet up for lunch a few times a year and give $ then. Many times I'm in a deficit or very close.
