those of you who have had colic babies....my DD is 6 wks and is generally very good. quite calm during the day with a few fussy/crying episodes when she's hungry or tired. but at night...whoa totally a different story!! she has like 2-4 hours of screaming and crying inconsolably. nothing pleases her not even BFing. she is just miserable. does this mean she is colic or is colic when a baby is like this all day? right now i have the hairdryer running and she is quiet. it seems crazy that a hair dryer would calm her! what do you think?
thank you!

I believe colic is if it's an all day thing. DD started doing that at night around that age. The only thing that helped is to put her on my legs on her belly or to bounce her really hard in her bouncy seat. Fortunately she grew out of it because that was a miserable stage!!

Sounds like colic to me. My daughter was colicy and the doctor told us it's crying hard like that for a few hours straight a day most of the week. It's even usually around the same time. Sarah's was in the afternoon. The doctor told us that they think a lot of times the babies are just overwhelmed by the world and can't calm themselves down. White noise (we used tv or radio static instead of the hairdryer) really helps them focus on just the noise and calm down. It ended around 3 months. Those 6 weeks seemed endless when I was going through them, but I can honestly say I barely remember it now.

Sounds JUST like Colic to me. I would try taking to the ped about it, and also reading the happiest baby on the block. Its a great cure for Colic periods ( sometimes, nothing works all the time) Chat Icon
