Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
I am at a loss for what to feed Jack - since he is so picky lately.
I tried giving him a piece of cheddar and broccoli quiche - he wanted no part of it.
So - I ended up giving him a cereal bar, applesauce, a pear, and a yogurt drink.
Do you think that is basically a bunch of crapola that I am giving him - and doesn't really count as a lunch?
I am so torn on what to feed him at this time - since he really doesn't seem to be that hungry.
I hate having a picky eater now - especially since he used to eat everything I put in front of him.

IMO, that sounds like a GREAT lunch for him!! All healthy stuff, and he likes it, so even better!!
DD eats about 1/2 of that for a meal, maybe even less, so I'm jealous of that!
Oh, and I'll take the quiche that Jack didn't want-- please!

Re: Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
my only concern about that lunch is how carby and sweet it is. If he gets used to that, he won't get used to eating savory foods (veggies, meat, cheese)

Re: Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
that sounds pretty healthy to me. I usually give my Jack a big plate of cut up fresh fruit, a yogurt and sometimes some cheerios or crunchies if he still seems hungry for lunch. He eats late because he naps from 11:30-2 and I want him to eat his dinner, which is around 5:30-6.
eta: I prefer to give fruit/yogurt for lunch so the natural sugar wears off by bed time.

I agree. While I don't think it's a bad lunch, it's a lot of sugars (even though natural). Does he eat any veggies? Maybe a couple of cucumber spears with hummus?

He won't eat any cheese - which is ironic being that my nickname used to be RAT lol - I am obsessed with cheese.
For dinner - every night he has peas and corn. He would eat that for every meal if I let him.
He had skirtsteak the other night for dinner- I almost passed out on the floor I was thrilled - of course I tried the same steak last night and he wouldn't touch it!

I think that's fine--it's healthy and if he's eating it, that's great!
It's funny because yesterday I gave Abby a banana and a cereal bar for breakfast and DH is like, "A cereal bar? What is she? A truckdriver?" To him, cereal bars are only for people who can't pull over to eat.

What about soups with some kind of protein in it? And have you tried the mozzerella peel sticks? This must be so frustrating to you but don't give up! Keep on offering it to him!

It is soooooo not fun! He ate every single baby food out there - and then once he started solids he ate everything - now - forget it! It drives me insane.
He will eat chicken randomly. I try to sneak that in with the peas and corn!

Re: Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
oh.....I also try the sandwich trick. I made him fresh butternut squash....he wouldn't eat it. I took the actual bowl it was in and spread it on some bread, made a sandwich and he ate it. roasted chicken cut into pieces on his plate....didn't want it, took the plate and dumped in on bread, made a sandwich and he ate it. Meatloaf....same

Re: Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
That sounds alot like DD's typical meal these days. It's all healthy stuff, so I am just glad when she eats at all. Dinner has especially been our challenge lately. The doctor says not to offer her/make her all different stuff and that she'll eat when she's hungry, but I'm so afraid to put her to bed without a full belly. I don't want her looking to eat at 3 am.

my daughter is VERY pick with dinner so some days she goes without having any. She never wakes up in the middle of the night hungry

Does he like eggs? DD loves egg omelets and toast. She also has started having cheese sandwiches and she devours them.

Re: Would you consider this to be a decent lunch?
I would be thrilled if my DD ate all that for lunch. I too am a member of the "my child does not eat" club!! Also my child won't eat any veggies! none!! eats TONS of fruit but no veggies. I have to admit I chuckle when I see suggestions such as cucumber spears etc. (no offense) - there is just no way that would ever get eaten by my DD
