Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
Depends on the child and who's birthday it was. I have close friends who I wouldn't think twice about leaving any of my kids there. If I didn't know any of the kids/parents personally than no I wouldn't.
You could always just say you didn't think DD would feel comfortable.

If I didn't know any of the parents that were staying there, then no. If I knew a parent, I'd ask if they wouldn't mind keeping an eye out & calling you if you had to come get her early or something.

Out of 18 kids at Josh's party, not one parent left. I thought a lot would have, none of them did.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
In that situation, no, I wouldn't drop her off. If it was a party of one of my friend's kids, then I would. I would just be honest and say something like, "I don't think DD would be comfortable without me there, but that's for the offer."

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
NOPE! I did not leave DD#1 at a party until she was around 6 and only if it was at someones home that I knew well. She would have freaked if I left her.

Definitely would not leave her; obviously if it was a relative or close friend's party, POSSIBLY, but definitely not in this situation.

Not unless it was for a family member or a REALLY close friend.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
That is good to hear - I was afraid it was unusual to NOT want to leave them. The problem is I can't blame it on DD b.c she is VERY independent and usually wants nothing to do with Mommy. I just don't want to offend the mom hosting the party OR the parents who chose to leave their children b.c DD does have playdates with them at the park etc and I don't want to jeopardize those playdates by offending someone.

Only if it was a family member. Honestly, I've never seen anyone do this!

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
No, and I don't know how that mom would be able to watch that many 3/3.5 year olds by herself. Can't be safe.

I was thinking this too.
I wouldn't do it unless it was a close friend or family member, but in that case, I couldn't see them telling me DC #2 couldn't come.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
I would not leave my child. There were parents present with siblings, mostly younger siblings, at all of the parties that I went to for DS's classmates. The parents just entertained the younger ones without having them take part in the "paid" activities.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
I would not be comfortable leaving my 3 yo at a party by herself.
A family party with my mom or mil, no problem. But not a kid party.
I would tell the mom that you just don't have a babysitter for your little one.
ETA: can your mom or mil take the older one to the party?

I would leave the sibling with my parents or hire a babysitter and take the older child to the party myself.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
I said no before even reading your post. Just no way in my mind could I do that.
If I was told "you can leave her others are" well I'd say "I'm sure but I just can't. I'm so sorry, I'd be a wreck with worry. Again, thank you for the invite. Maybe next year!"
no way jose.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
I'm surprised she won't just let you bring the sibling. I wouldn't leave a 3yo alone at a party.
Do you know any other moms well? I may be more willing to leave DS if I trusted another mom.

Re: Would you leave your 3 year old at a birthday party?
last year i would go to every party, this year i am starting to drop off where i know the parents well and/or they have had play dates with the children before. DD is now 4.5 and in pre-K.
