Would you send a card
I'm going to try to make this as quick as possible. I was best friends with a guy J all through high school and college years. He eventually professed his live or me and things were a little weird, but we were working through it. DH and I, who had been broken up for a year at the time, got back together. That was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me and Js friendship. Well I was just informed that he got married. I honestly couldn't be happier for him. However, it was really weird hearing about it from someone else. Even now, over 10 years later, I miss our friendship very much. I always thought I would be AT his wedding, not hearing about it through the grapevine. So my question is, should I send him a wedding card? I really would like to congratulate him, but I don't know if I should just leave well enough alone.

Re: Would you send a card
You haven't spoken to him in 10 years and heard through the grapevine that he was married?
Honestly I think sending him a card is totally unnecessary. If you were going to stay friends that would have happened long ago, and the card may open up a can of worms.

Re: Would you send a card
I wouldn't. How would you feel if you were just married and some girl that your DH used to be in love with and hasn't talked to in years sent a card? I don't think it's appropriate, but that's my opinion.

ITA.....I would not send a card. I think it would send the wrong message.

Re: Would you send a card
I have a REALLY similar situation in my life. I had the opposite situation though where I really wanted to invite him to my wedding but ended up not inviting him because I was worried about any kind of scene. I DO talk to him, but I'm still not sure I'd send a card if he got married at this point if I wasn't invited.
maybe you can send him a facebook message or something just saying you heard he got married and you're so happy for him and you hope he's doing well.
I'm thinking your hope is maybe that now that he's married any awkwardness or resentment has passed.

Re: Would you send a card
No. I wouldn't. I don't see the point of opening a door on a friendship that both of you (and likely your spouses) preferred to stay closed.
