Would you spend $425 on this dress?

I'm laughing at myself for posting this question because I would easily spend this on a bag, or shoes or something else that I know I'd get a lot of use out of, but I'm just not sure about this dress....

It's Diane vonFurstenberg, navy and black. I've been looking for a navy dress, and I love navy and black together!

I have a wedding in mid-April, possibly one at the end of May, and another at the end of June.... Different people at each event.

For some reason I need help justifying this dress..

What are your thoughts? Do you think I'll still have it and wear it in years to come?

Re: Would you spend $450 on this dress?

I think it is a really nice dress, but i don't really think it is a timeless dress. It's not super trendy, but I couldn't see you having it in your closet forever.

While it's nice, i think that you can probably find something similar for less.

But if you think you will wear it 3 times then it's not so bad. I know that by the 3rd wedding (possibly the 2nd) I would want a new dress anyway!

Re: Would you spend $450 on this dress?

Personally, I wouldn't. I think it is a pretty dress but $450 seems like too much. I have a similar dress in blue silk that I bought from Macy's for $150. I think the price is the negative factor to me more than anything.

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

Thanks! By the 3rd time I will def. be sick of it.. but then maybe in a year to come I'll love it again? I think it'll be easier to make a decision once I TRY IT ON! I HATE dress shopping! If I try it on and love it I will immediately buy it so I can stop looking Chat Icon

Do you think the bow makes it bridesmaidy? I've seen it in person and the bow doesn't look as poofy as it does in this pic... Chat Icon

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

in the past I have told myself to justify $$$$ dresses, that I can and will wear it to various weddings with different people, and i know that for me, it never happens. I might wear it to two and then I want a new one. SO, I would find a similar stlye dress for less money if I were you. It is very pretty, but I don't think it is the kind of dress you'll have in your closet for a long time

I think so. I also think that you could pin the back closed to hide a bra.

I was more concerned with the deepness of the front, but I guess I could pin that too

I would get one of those plunging bra's... you should be OK with that... as for the price... I think its a really cute dress but think you can definitely find something similar for a lot less $$$, this style is in all the stores right now.

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

It is pretty, and I love the way Diane VonFurstenburg dresses fit.

I probably would buy it, just to have something, and return it if I found something I liked better for cheaper.

I think it is definitely a classic style that you could wear for a long time. It is also not that "memorable" (i.e. not an outrageous color or print), so if you wore it again to an event in 2 years w/ the same people - I bet no one would remember.

Good luck!!!!

Im sorry but no way! I've seen many similar dresses like this for under $150...this dress looks very similar to Maggie London dresses that are very reasonably priced. I would continue to look around.

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

If it went for less than $300, I'd say yes, because it's gorgeous, but I don't think that it's something that you'd wear beyond this spring/summer.

I love DVF dresses. Chat Icon

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

I agree maybe for $250 or $300..

I would use double sided tape on the front to keep it from opening.

I dont have that kind of $ personally but did you plan on spending more than $140 for a dress for each of the 3 events? Think of it that way.

It's a beautiful dress so tough decision for something you will only wear a few times!

I would but only if I absolutely LOVED it and if it fit me like a glove. If you have any question at all, no.

Re: Would you spend $425 on this dress?

no - not $425 special. I would only spend that much on an evening gown or something that was totally striking and unique.
