Re: Would you take a pay cut to keep your job?
Id be willing to do a pay freeze. A pay cut? I'd start looking for a new job. If it was totally necesarry.. either work for less or don't work at all I'd work for less and keep my benefits. But don't ask me to give up benefits.

Re: Would you take a pay cut to keep your job?
this just happened to my neighbor...his company cut salaries by 10% so they would have to fire anyone, but he's just grateful to have a job. and his wife is newly pregnant too, so they really needed his originally salary

I'd take a pay cut if it meant keeping my job.
I'd also start looking for a new job the day after.

Re: Would you take a pay cut to keep your job?
100% yes.
I can take the paycut but I cant live without benefits.
If it means taking home less money & still having my health benefits, abso-friggenl-utely.

Re: Would you take a pay cut to keep your job?
It depends on how deep the cut. So far I've heard of companies:
-freezing 401(k) company match -decreasing health insurance benefits -increasing health insurance premiums -salary freeze -bonus freeze -salary cut (either 10% across the board or 5% for those under $100K; 10% for those over $100K) -furloughing employees -mandatory vacation time
Totally legal in the US (Canada has some restrictions). The only thing that is iffy legally is furloughing exempt employees because it jeopardizes their exempt status & can make them non-exempt.

our salaries were frozen and a lot of bonuses were at 0 or lower than anticipated.
I got no raise and no bonus and ended up working for 3 very busy people and a team of about 6 working on a project.
9 people ask me for things everyday.
Happy to be employed though. More were laid off yesterday.
There are not enough people to do the work now. This is pretty bad.

Re: Would you take a pay cut to keep your job?
Yes definitely. I am a recruiter and its BAD out there. I had an assistant job avail and there are over 1300 applicants. I also have jobs in other states avail and get so many applicants--mostly over qualified.
So with seeing that on a daily basis and not just in NY. Yes! Yes! Yes!
