Would you take a vacation next month assuming quarantine isn't an issue
if someone offered you their timeshare for 5 days in Florida next month, would you fly and go ? Obviously, asking in terms of concerns about covid. TO ADD: Assuming quarantine on return wasn't an issue, i should have said that to begin with.

Would you take a vacation next month ?
Nope. Definitely not a plane as it is a petri dish in the best of times and I do not want to quarantine after we get back. I need my kids in school so it would not be worth a few days of sun for me.

I am not ready to fly and I was one that was willing to at different times during this. But my parents live in FL and no one is being safe there. Their infection rate is high compared to here. At this point I’m sitting tight for a bit. Maybe spring time.

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/flying-covid-19-harvard-study-wellness/index.html
A Harvard University study released Tuesday used computer models to review airflow in airliner cabins, and it says the specialized onboard ventilation systems filter out 99% of airborne viruses. It was funded by airlines, airplane manufacturers and airports, but the Harvard researchers insist this did not impact their findings. Researchers at the university's T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that even though air is recirculated back into the cabin, it goes through high-quality filters first. And virus droplets from one passenger are unlikely to infect another because of a "downward direction" of airflow, they said. "This ventilation effectively counters the proximity travelers are subject to during flights," their report says.

Re: Would you take a vacation next month ?
No.
Plus my job wouldn't be happy about it and I wouldn't want to bring my kids. I refused to let my ex take my son to SC in August because it was a hot zone and I am sticking to the idea of no major travel.
We always travel February break and we are mixing it up and going to Lake George instead

I'm in a similar situation. I would LOVE to go but the whole quarantine issue has me holding back. I'm not worried about flying. My brother is a pilot and says everything is super sanitized.

And everyone has to wear masks. I thought we were all ok as long as we wear masks?

Yes that. I answered as if I was childless. I work from home anyway so quarantining upon returning is no big deal for me. My daughter though- no way do I want her remote for 2 weeks. I still have PTSD from remote learning in the spring.

Most ID researchers say this study is flawed. It assumes everyone is wearing a surgical mask and that there is no movement within the plane cabin. So in a very controlled setting this is true, but an actual plane is not controlled in the same manner.

Between the masks and the air filtration on planes, they actually concluded it's safer to fly than to go food shopping.

I'd fly if I had somewhere to go lol. And if I didn't have to worry about quarantining when I get back
ETA: I would go somewhere that I could avoid crowds, like a warm beach or something. Not worried about the flying aspect of it. Not looking to travel to go sightseeing or anything like that, at this point.

No. I actually was in Florida recently and they are extremley lax with the masks, social distancing, etc. It was scary actually.
The plane, and the airport, I felt very safe as they were pretty much empty...just Florida was not good.

Not surprised. Maybe somewhere else I'd be more willing... as of right now though, no.

Re: Would you take a vacation next month assuming quarantine isn't an issue
Personally, I have NO desire to vacation until we don't have to wear masks. Suffocating in the warmth with a mask across my face is not my idea of fun. LOL With rising COVID cases and cold and flu season upon us, I wouldn't take the chance right now and fly. JMO.

Totally agree
Plus, I do not want to have to quarantine and use sick time for that. WE go to Mexico every Feb. break, and will be passing on it this year

Re: Would you take a vacation next month assuming quarantine isn't an issue
Yes. We flew to Florida back in November, stayed at a house and enjoyed the house and pool by ourselves -I wouldn't go to a hotel for the restrictions-. During the flight we wiped everything and turned the air full on on top of us. I've been a hermit since March and was very hesitant of doing so, but it was such a great change, because we were going crazy, the 3 of us in our apartment in the city. DS is remote, so quarantining wasn't an issue. DH and DS took the test the 5th day after returning and were negative, me being such a hermit did the whole quarantine. I felt it was risky, but it was worth it. We went out for outdoor dining and that was it.

Navigating the airports alone makes me not want to do it.

Re: Would you take a vacation next month assuming quarantine isn't an issue
Yes. We spent a month in Bermuda over the summer and then I went back in the fall. It was great to get away. Depending on how long you are going, it might even be worth the short quarantine when you get back.
