At approximately 36-37 weeks, driving 3-3.5 hours away from home? All discomfort from sitting in the car aside, would this be a risky move?

Re: Would you travel....

I wouldn't. Someone on this board just had her baby unexpectedly yesterday at 36 weeks!

I traveled 12 hours away at 32/33 weeks with the OK from my doctor, but he said that 34 weeks was the last week he would have allowed it.

Definitely not. I would be way too nervous and wouldn't enjoy myself.

No, I gave birth 1 day shy of 36 weeks. I was induced (failed) and c-section due to SPONTANEOUS severe hypertension.

This was my initial gut reaction too... that even if I decided to go, I'd be freaking out the whole time that something's going to happen, so it looks like I'll be staying home on that one. Thank again ladies!

I might have said yes when I had my first. I traveled ob long road trips into my third trimester. With my second I needed an ecs at 35 weeks bc she was in distress after a pretty uneventful pregnancy. So my revised answer of course is no.

Re: Would you travel....

im thinking about the same thing. we want to possibly take our dd to a county fair that's about 2-2.5 hours away. I would be 37w ( in 2 weeks ). I keep going back and forth with the idea. More than likely we probably wont go. I am nervous of what if I went in to labor that far away from home.

This is what I'm nervous about too. Our best friend and DS's godfather's daughter is turning one and we really wanted to be there for her birthday but sadly I just don't think we're gonna make it. it's not worth taking the chance.

Would you travel....

I went to a wedding 2 hours away when I was 35 weeks pregnant. I was a little nervous, but I was traveling to another city so I knew at the very least there was good healthcare there if something happened.

Re: Would you travel....

Me personally? No, I had my dad at 36 weeks. From the time my water broke and when she was born was under 12 hours. I had strep b (I think that's what it is) so I needed the if meds which takes a bit.

Re: Would you travel....

I went to PA at 34 weeks and that was my limit. I very unexpectedly just had my baby at 37 weeks so I personally wouldn't chance it.

Re: Would you travel....

It depends how you are feeling. I would do it with all 3 of my previous ones. We even went all the way out to the North Fork 1.5-2 hours (we are in western Nassau) when I was overdue - labor started on the way home :)

I'm driving to SC at 30 weeks, is that crazy??? I ran it by my doctor and he was fine with it, I've had an uneventful pregnancy this time around and last time...

I had a total uneventful pregnancy. Super easy, no discomfort, no issues -- ended up delivering at 34.5. At this stage in the game it's prob best you stay close by.
