Would you wake a newborn to feed at night
My DC usually goes about every 4 hours to eat. the past 2 nights she is sleeping past the 4 hours, and I have to wake her to feed her.
When i do wake her she is starving and eats with no problem.
But I know people say you shouldn't wake a sleeping baby esp. during the night. But will it be bad if I let her go longer than her normal time? Will it throw her off her schedule?

Are you nursing her? If so, the most I would let her sleep is 4 hours. This way your milk supply becomes regulated. Otherwise I wouldn't wake her. How long is she sleeping?

No she is formula fed. She feeds about every 4 hours. It take 1 hour to feed, change and burp her and then she sleeps for 3.
Ex. So she eats at 12am by the time she is done, burped and changed it is about 1am. She sleeps till 4...but I woke her up today @ 4:15am to feed her. She wakes right up and is rooting like crazy. She take 3.5 oz and we start all over again.

I didn't wake DS = he was the waker, and I was wakee
I gave him a bottle every 4 1/2 hours during the day and then his last bottle was at 12:00 and he slept for about 6 hours - I think that would be 5 bottles per day.

I NEVER woke my DD to feed her. She always got up on her own during the night to eat when she was hungry.

Re: Would you wake a newborn to feed at night
DS is 12 days old, and his ped said to wake him during the day if he goes more than 4 hours without waking to feed (he is also FF only), but during the night let him go however long he wants to sleep. Last night he had one 6 hour stretch without feeding (he was up 3 of those hours wailing, but it wasn't time to feed him yet when he finally passed out).
I'm feeding every 3-4 hours during the day. How is DC when you are feeding at night? I think DS has his days and nights mixed up--he is IMPOSSIBLE to get to sleep during the night, but he's been sleeping perfectly since 7AM (waking him once to feed around 10:30/11AM)...

Never. When she was a newborn, I only woke Lily to eat during the day..to get her on a schedule, and to make sure she ate enough during the day, so she would sleep at night.

Re: Would you wake a newborn to feed at night
I would ask your ped. My ped said not to let them go past four hours during the day or six hours at night. I had very small babies, don't know if that made a difference.
