Re: WOW! Hillary running for President!
Posted by Meaghan729 what has she done as a senator for the citizens of NY? Now she is going to be attending all fundraisers and pumping herself up, how excactly will she be helping NY?
Apparently she's done a lot for Upstate - which is in dire need of help.
Sadly, I don't think the country will accept a woman president - even sadder still, I don't think I'll see one in my lifetime (though I hope I'll eat my words one day!)

she can run
she'll never win
They said that about Bill Clinton too. He was a major underdog
but he was a man
A woman should not run the country, plain and simple. Wow. I am wondering what you base this opinon on. Many Many Many successful governments have been run by women. Some of the most successful eras in the UK history were under the governance of a woman, and they were the superpower of the world at the time. Studies have actually shown that despite what many people feel as an emotional leader, women are far more controlled and pensive about their decision making, in general, and weigh options more carefully.
And I am further saddened that as a woman you feel this way

You are entitled to your preference.
I am saddened that if a better female candidate were to come along and be the most effective leader the free world has seen in recent times, that she would not get a vote strictly because of gender. It is a form of bias IMHO.

Either way I could care less, b/c Guiliani will now have an even better shot at winning
Let's hope!
That would be fantastic....
ETA, as a NYC resident while Guiliani was mayor, I fully support him. He did great things for the city and I truly felt safe living here. While Bloomberg is doing an ok job, I can def see the difference between the two administrations.

I think in the short term, yes it is a huge obstacle, especially with this country as a whole reverting more to some pretty antiquated social standards. But I think never is a strong term. I do think it will happen in my lifetime.

I am thinking a McCain /Guiliani ticket for '08.
Guiliani said he wouldn't run against his friend John McCain, so if McCain runs, Rudy said he wouldn't - but who knows....

i dont know about anyone else but if this woman had any smarts, she would divorce her husband and change her name back to Rodham.
Whenever I hear "Clinton" i think of Bill. I think Hillary needs to break away from that man before she thinks she can have a chance.
Either way I could care less, b/c Guiliani will now have an even better shot at winning
I happen to agree and think Guillani good a job in the city.
Yep, love Rudy
The way she handled Bill cheating on her, by staying with him, offends me as a woman-- I would like someone to "look up to" and the fact that she stays in the marriage and they have the kind of marriage that they do- is very disappointing, JMO.

Never said I looked up to Rudy
I think he did a good job.
There are many things, I'm not going to list, that she did (along with her husband) as Pres and First Lady that I don't agree with-- but, one of them is the fact that she is with him- and for political gain- it's like a big power game for them. Not to mention all the other things- too many to list and I'm not going to get into it, JMO.
If you feel different- I totally respect that but this is how I feel as a woman and as a person.

I can respect anyones opinions and priorities. Mine is that ALL of politics is a power game, every single part of it. A politicians private life, marriage issues etc. aren't important whatsoever to me, it's how well I think they can represent me.

Re: WOW! Hillary running for President!
Its funny that people base their political opinions on people's personal lives...years ago no one knew how many woman the presidents were sticking it to...and believe me there are very few presidents in our countrys history that weren't giving it up to anyone and everyone besides their wives.
If people at the time knew FDR was handicapped he NEVER would have been elected....would that have been fair or good for this country? I tend to form my opinion on the candidates political record....not their bedroom one

Re: WOW! Hillary running for President!
For me, it was never JUST the bedroom behavior- it was political AND personal b/c it's about respecting a person- I have to respect you in order to like you as a person and wanting you to represent me... So, it's both.
That, for me, is what it is all about- but you and others feel opposite- That's OK, I understand- I don't think the way you feel is "funny"... I just think it is what it is and you're entitled to that. I actually really like the fact that people have so many different opinions and ways of seeing things. It makes everything more interesting and diverse.

I had this arguement with a friend of mine recently. JFK, one of our most revered and beloved presidents was a horrible womanizer. People knew, or at least suspected it. Yet no one slammed Jackie O for staying with him. Boy how times have changed.

Apparently she's done a lot for Upstate - which is in dire need of help.
Sadly, I don't think the country will accept a woman president - even sadder still, I don't think I'll see one in my lifetime (though I hope I'll eat my words one day!)
I would gladly accept a woman president- however a qualified one!

Its great that people have so many different opinions...thats what makes America...America. It is just my opinion that it is funny because for so many presidents what they did in the bedroom wasn't mentioned...and they were some of the greatest leaders this country has ever had
