WWYD - babysitter staying overnight

DH and i are going away for the night from Thursday to Friday. we will be leaving at 10am Thursday and coming back after dinner on Friday, maybe around 7 or 8pm. that's two full days with DS, including putting him to bed both nights (he goes to bed at 7pm).

DS is 6 months old.

how much would you pay/charge for this stay?

If you don't already have a per hour rate set up I would honestly just ask. Just say we haven't done this before what do you think is fair. I would also bring a small souvenir as a thank you. That way you guarantee another trip for you and DH.Chat Icon

Well, I'd probably pay her regular daily rate, plus time and half for the extra time (LB, you know where I get that fromChat Icon )

actually you are the one who hit the nail on the head!

she is asking $175 which is what she would get for working 2 days and getting time and a half for overnight.

i was so surprised to see $200 -$250 - i thought she was over-charging me!

ok glad to know she isn't Chat Icon

(BTW for those that don't know my regular sitter is my younger sister. i was NOT trying to under-pay her but in the back of my mind i couldn't help but think that i would not be asking for $$ if it was the other way around Chat Icon but she doesn't have another job and i don't think anyone else in our families could do this since it's during the week, so i understand.)

I'd probably leave her $200 tho, like the $175 and then some extra to order herself a nice dinner or something while DS was sleeping, you know?

I definitely think $200 is reasonable.
