WWYD - babysitter staying overnight
DH and i are going away for the night from Thursday to Friday. we will be leaving at 10am Thursday and coming back after dinner on Friday, maybe around 7 or 8pm. that's two full days with DS, including putting him to bed both nights (he goes to bed at 7pm).
DS is 6 months old.
how much would you pay/charge for this stay?

Re: WWYD - babysitter staying overnight
If you don't already have a per hour rate set up I would honestly just ask. Just say we haven't done this before what do you think is fair. I would also bring a small souvenir as a thank you. That way you guarantee another trip for you and DH.

Re: WWYD - babysitter staying overnight
Well, I'd probably pay her regular daily rate, plus time and half for the extra time (LB, you know where I get that from )

actually you are the one who hit the nail on the head!
she is asking $175 which is what she would get for working 2 days and getting time and a half for overnight.
i was so surprised to see $200 -$250 - i thought she was over-charging me!
ok glad to know she isn't
(BTW for those that don't know my regular sitter is my younger sister. i was NOT trying to under-pay her but in the back of my mind i couldn't help but think that i would not be asking for $$ if it was the other way around but she doesn't have another job and i don't think anyone else in our families could do this since it's during the week, so i understand.)

I'd probably leave her $200 tho, like the $175 and then some extra to order herself a nice dinner or something while DS was sleeping, you know?
