WWYD - Vacation related
My parents want to take us to their house in Savannah for Feb. break. Hopefully I will be pregnant by then - and if that were the case I would be in my first trimester. I wouldn't feel comfortable flying - I believe you are allowed by I personally wouldn't want to.
Would you book the trip and then cancel if you got a BFP?
Would you wait it out a few weeks - if I didn't get a BFP in January - I would basically be like a minute pregnant on this vacation in February so I don't think it would really matter either way!
I just hate the not knowing when it comes to planning things.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I would book it.
If you do decide to cancel, you won't feel so bad aobut it b/c you'll have your BFP - but if you don't book and you don't have your BFP you'll regret not having the trip
ETS: Personally, I would go no matter what - I went to Graceland around 7wks pg and Hanauer was fine with it.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
from personal experience...
i would honestly consider not going depending on how you are on the planes... do you get sick? or are you completely fine?
cause with me.. i get so sick.. my stomach is a mess... and it was all during this pregnancy issue i am going through now... i truly believe in my gut that it screwed me up a bit... the bleeding..etc.. and perhaps a late implanter.. hence why i am so early...
BUT this is obviously MY own experience and not others.. so i am just stating that again!!
so like i said.. i would just base it on how you are with flying..

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I have a rather interesting pregnancy, plane story. I worked with a woman whose DIL had flown back home to the UK for Christmas with her 1 yo and while pregnant with her second. While she was in the UK she had a miscarriage and ended up having to stay an entire month in the UK. This particular woman regretted the trip because she was away from her husband for the whole month. On the bright side, she was with her mother during the whole event.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
in all sincerity, call your OB - see what they think of flying early in pregnancy.
for every scenario you come up with in your head, there will be horror stories - miscarriages, etc...
the only opinions that TRULY matter are your gut and your doctor!

I think this is def. the exception and probably had nothing to do with her flying. Why did she have to stay for a whole month??

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
Honestly, I would book the trip and then cancel it if you get a BFP (if you didn't want to fly).
I made the mistake of planning a vacation around when I "thought" I would be PG and I will NEVER do that again because of course, I was not PG.
I am a firm believer in continuing your life as is and if you get a BFP, then dealing with it then.
ETA: When I book trips, I just make sure that I either have trip insurance or that I can cancel or change the hotel and airfare.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I flew to Europe at 9 wks and back to the US at 10 wks by myself to visit a friend that was living there. So me, I'd go.
But you really have to do what you're comfortable with. See if the tickets can be used at another time before you purchase them. And you could also look into trip insurance.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I'd book and get insurance. I'd probably go either way - unless I was having twins and the doctor felt that for some reason it wasn't safe.

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
Oh, definitely book it. Hopefully next month is your month but you don't want to have neither a BFP nor a vacation
Book on expedia - for $49 you can purchase a trip waiver that allows you to cancel the entire trip up to the moment your flight leaves, for any reason.
(I'm sure you know this but "you" (you = pregnant women) are totally fine to fly 1st trimester. I actually flew to CO before I knew (I would have been about 3.5 weeks) and flew to FL the day I got my BFP. That being said, if you're uncomfortable, obviously don't.)

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I'd book it, but I don't know anyone personally that would make me think not to. My SIL flew back & forth from England to the US multiple times in her 1st & 2nd trimesters, as did her sister when she was pg. My BFF also did repeated trips between NY & CO w/out any issues, so as long as my OB gives me the OK to, I'll fly...
If you're really just uncomfortable with the whole idea then I'd do what MAM & Eileen suggested & try to get trip insurance of some sort. Like Eileen, I really hope that next month is your month, but if it isn't I wouldn't want to see you wind up w/out a bfp or a vacation

Re: WWYD - Vacation related
I would book it and go regardless, but that's just me. DH and I went to visit friends in Nebraska two days after I found out I was preggo with DS. Of course, you have to do what you're comfortable with. If you book, just get insurance so you can back out if you need to. I'm going to be booking a trip to Jamaica for May. I plan on going pregnant or not.

That is a terrible story!
Me, I would book it. I don't put my life on hold while TTC because you never know what will be.
If you are pregnant and you decide not to go, you would probably be happy to have a reason to cancel (but you might decide to go anyway, so you would be covered either way!)

ITA w/ this.
You just never know what's going to be. Don't put anything on hold because you are trying to get pregnant. If you do get pregnant and don't feel comfortable going, then you can cancel.
