WWYD? Asking someone Qs about being a foster parent
DS is going to a mommy and me/integration class.
A new mommy has come with twins for the past few weeks. She is their foster mom. But we don't really talk to each other. We are all focused on our own kid in the class. She does seem friendly though.
DH and I are talking about being foster parent and started contacting people for it.
I am "dying" to talk to her. I would love to know about her experience, etc...
But,
1/ we only have 1 class left this week and I won't be seeing her again afterwards.
2/ I feel I would be so intrusive approaching her on the topic
WWYD???
TIA

Re: WWYD? Asking someone Qs about being a foster parent
I would just say you are considering becoming a foster parent and you would love to hear about her experience if she is comfortable sharing. Then maybe give her your email adress- this way she can choose whether or not to respond.
The only issue may be if she is a foster parent because of a bad family situation or something, she may not want to tell details.
Good Luck!

I say, go for it. Go up to her and say exactly that...you are thinking about being a foster parent and would love to talk with her sometime...how about coffee or a playdate?

Re: WWYD? Asking someone Qs about being a foster parent
I would try to contact her after class by stating something you admire her being a foster mother and then ask for information - i would have a card with cell phone number to give to her also
but i would also bring a note that you can quickly give her- saying something similar to your opening with your cell phone number to call - i would give the note if she looks to busy to talk

Re: WWYD? Asking someone Qs about being a foster parent
My family did foster care for around 13 years. We had people ask us questions all the time about it, and it never bothered us. I say just approach her and tell her you are interested.
If you have any questions you would like to ask me, feel free to FM me

Re: WWYD? Asking someone Qs about being a foster parent
I would approach her and tell her that you admire her work as a foster parent and tell her that you are interested too and want to know if she would be willing to talk to you about it. Most people will be happy to share!
