WWYD -Birthday Related

SO, DH & I decided we weren't going to throw a big first b-day bash for DD for a variety of reasons. We agreed, keep it small, family only.

So, we've been discussing it and figured out that keeping it small, just family = 17 people!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon We live in a condo and can't possibly fit 17 people. The complex has a clubhouse that we can rent - which DH wants to do. I feel that once we invest the $$ to rent the clubhouse, we might as well have a party and include others.

You said that there are other reasons why you agreed on family only, so because you have more space now shouldn't be the only reason why you'll expand the guest list. Do you really want a big party now? There are other factors in more people (ie: more invitations, food, paper goods, will you now need entertainment if there will be lots of kids, more stress, etc.)

Im going to say to invite more than just family...but that is purely for selfish reasons...Chat Icon

I think it depends on what those original reasons were for wanting to keep it small. If it was space and money only, the space issue is solved and I guess it would depend on how much more money we're talking. If it wasn't a ton, I would lean towards having more guests. Either way I'm sure your DD will love it!

I say, get a bunch of posters like this:

and put them all over the clubhouse to create the ILLUSION that there are more people. This way, you spend a little more money but you still have the party you want.

I am of no help, but what do you really expect from me?

(Actually, the bottom line is that you have to be happy. If you dont want to make a big party, don't make it. You may be miserable if its not what you envisioned.)

I would invite more people. If you make your own food the cost may not go up to much.
