WWYD: Cold related?
As everyone knows I have been battling a bad headcold since last Sunday. It is now in my chest as of Friday afternoon. This weekend was miserable for me, not sleeping & coughing uncontrollably...I am at work now but considering going home just bc I am still not feeling well.
I have a OB appt tomorrow afternoon. Would you just wait until then to see if they will give me something or call?

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I'm a big baby and wouldn't want to suffer another day... especially if I thought it had moved into my chest. I would call and see if I could get in today.
You should probably at the very least head home for the day from work.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

I would give them a call. If you can start feeling better a day earlier, why not?
Feel well!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
i don't know that your OB can prescribe what you'll need.... if it were me - i'd call my regular doc and when they tell me what they're calling in for me - i'd call the OB just to give them the heads' up.
FEEL BETTER!!!!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I just went through this.... I called the OB first to see what I could take if anything and was told Robotussim (sp?) and then went to the reg. doctor once it hit the chest just in case I needed an antibiotic (sp?)...
FEEL BETTER !!!!!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I would call, it sounds like you're really suffering! I had a bad cough that turned into Bronchitis, the DR said I could take regular Robitussin and regular Mucinex. I would call earlier just to see what you could start taking.
Feel better! Go home and rest

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I would just call, but I'll warn you, I've had the upper respiratory flu for the past 2 weeks and all they said I could take was Sudafed/Regular Tylenol/Robotussin. There aren't many options when you are pg!

I was given z-pack. That is a good option & I know others who have been on it too (while pregnant)...it definitely knocked out my cold & prevented it from going to bronchitis (which i'm prone to get twice a year).

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I'd call your primary care doctor and go in. When I was pregnant I got an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis, they gave me an Rx (I think it was the Z Pack, I don't remember now), and I stopped at my OB's office on the way home to make sure it was safe (even though the regular doc swore it was, I was paranoid!) It wouldn't have gone away w/o antibiotics, so I had to do it.
Feel better!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
Honestly, I would make an appointment with my Primary physician. I've had bronchitis a couple of times this pregnancy (and I NEVER get sick) and my OB always sent me to my primary. I just always check with my OB before I take any mediciations.
I hope you feel better soon!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I would definitely call your primary physician and keep your OB in the loop.
In my second trimester, I developed a terrible cold and I'm prone to sinus infections but I waited to call my doctor, hoping it would pass and I ended up with a severe infection and need to go on Z-pack. Don't torture yourself, so I would just give them a call. Good luck and feel better, hun!

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
I would call my PCP. I had an upper respiratory infection right after an ear infection and needed the Z pack. Boy, what a difference!
Feel better

Re: WWYD: Cold related?
Thanks ladies...I came home to rest for the day & called the primary but they have no available appts today I have to call them back at 8:30 tomorrow. I just put a call into the OB's to see if there is something they can give me in the meantime since the Robitussin is not doing the trick
