WWYD? daycare related
Today I went to go pick up the kids at daycare, and Joey's class was on the playground. One of his teachers is on vacation this week, and the other leave at 3:00, so they have been filling in the later part of the day with staff from other rooms who have less kids. So today the teacher covering is this woman who I know works in the 4 yr. old class. I have talked to her a few times, and she is so sweet, and so great with the kids. The 4 year olds in her class clearly ADORE her. However, today when I walked up to the gate, I saw her standing at the fence, facing the over 3's playground (DS is 17 months, his class has a seperate playground), talking to another worker. She was alone because there were only 3 kids left, and her back was to the kids, all of her attention was on this other teacher, and they were talking about their plans for Saturday night. So now, TWO groups of kids are running around on playgrounds unsupervised. I don't know who the other teacher was, just that she works with the three year olds. Should I say something to the director? I feel bad getting these two teachers in trouble, but my kid wasn't being watched at all! I have seen her before and she's always playing with the kids, so I don't think this is a recurring this, but it bothered me. Should I say something to her, or the director? I know it's not my place to reprimand her, that's her boss' job, but I just feel bad since I am a new parent in the school and I am already ratting out teachers. WWYD?

As a teacher I think it is unacceptable to have your eyes anywhere but on the kids! I am always panning the playground and counting heads
ITA... I'm not a teacher, but worked at a daycare back in college and now I'm a mother of a child at daycare. Totally unacceptable. Yes, you should mention it to the Director. You're not complaining... your voicing your concerns for the safety of the children.
