WWYD: Destination Wedding in October
I really need some help with this. My Sister in Law is having a destination wedding at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana, DR in October. DD will be around 5 months at the time.
Ideally, I would like to exclusively breastfeed DD for at least the first 6 months but i'm not deadset on it.
Should:
DH and I go for a weekend and leave DD at home with my mother?
DH and I go for a week and leave DD at home with my mother? (Which would be a better deal, financially)
OR
Take DD with us and stay for a weekend
Take DD and stay for a week
I'm a FTM and i'm already having a bit of seperation anxiety just thinking about it...I know I would miss her terribly if I leave her at home...But then again, it could be a much needed vacation...i'm completely torn What would you do?

Re: WWYD: Destination Wedding in October
I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding for October, the baby would be 3 months for me... (she is getting married in disney)
DH and i decided that we just wouldnt go....
Just because I dont want to make assumptions that i will be okay with leaving him behind...if gthat makes sense?

Re: WWYD: Destination Wedding in October
just my opinion but I would not take my months-old child out of the country, especially to a place where water quality is not great. I just wouldn't be comfortable with it. I also wouldn't be comfortable being away for a full week, so my vote would be to go for the weekend if you have to go at all.

I totally agree. For the water quality reason alone I wouldn't take DD.

I know exactly what you mean, that's how I feel...i've never been a mother before so I don't know how I'm going to handle leaving DD if I decide to do that..I already don't really like the feeling of leaving her behind...
Honestly, if this wasn't DH's sister it would be a no brainer, we wouldn't be going.

My mother was saying the same exact thing about the water quality

I wouldn't be comfortable bringing my baby to DR. I personally wouldn't commit to the wedding just yet, see how you feel when it gets closer and then you can decide if you want to just go for the weekend or just stay home.

I would go for the weekend and leave the baby at home. ETA: a week away is just too long for me.
You really wont know until the baby is here. I know some moms could never leave their babies that young. And some moms feel fine going away for a week as long as someone reliable is home with the baby. I REALLY REALLY hope that I fall into the second category but who knows?

Re: WWYD: Destination Wedding in October
If you can, I would wait until after having the baby to make the decision.
You can't predict how you are going to feel about leaving the baby right now.
