WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I got a Friend Request from an old friend from HS, this girl was, well I thought, she was my bff. She ended up sneaking around with my boyfriend at the time, when I found out, I dumped them both, that is not a friend.
So 24 years later I get a friend request on Facebook from her. ??? Hello? I know it was HS and a long time ago and I'm completely over it, of course, but that does not mean I want to be friends with you on Facebook or otherwise. It's not like we tried to be friends again like Brenda and Kelly. And it wasn't over Dylan, or anyone that remotely looked like him.
I am going to ignore the request and not say anything to her, but am I wrong not to want to talk to her?

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I would add her as a friend. I had friends from HS recently that I got back in touch with thru Myspace. And we went through something similar. But it was so long ago noneof us cared anymore and I’m actually happy to talk to them again.

I don't think you're wrong. I admit, I look through my "class" and kind of to this day at some people. Yes, I know it was HS and years ago, but, I just don't want to be bothered.

I don't know. I hold grudges forever and strongly go by the screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me rule but I've added people on my facebook that I really don't care for. Mostly because I'm curious to see what they're up to. I'm sure (or I hope) you're friend isn't the same person she was in HS.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
nothing wrong with not wanting to be friends with someone...you can be over it and forgive...but doesn't mean you have to forget and if you don't want this person even as just an "internet friend" -- i think thats just fine.

I would just add them. It is not like you have to talk to them,, and if she annoys you for any reason, delete her later.

I add everyone. I hated a lot of people in HS but I it was soo long ago. I feel that hopefully they are not the same as back then and it is time to move on

i don't think you are wrong - this is exactly what i would do.
i know it was HS, but i have plenty of good, true friends in my life and i would rather not remember what someone like that did to me every time i saw her pic on facebook.

Well, I would probably add her just to see what she is up to - but I wouldn't send her any messages. You can easily delete her.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
A friend of mine got a facebook request from for lack of a better word an ex-friend. They had run into eachother years ago and her friend was no so nice to her during this encounter.
Recently, she got a friends request from this person and after she accepted the exfriend sent an apology for being rude when they ran into eachother. Saying she was going through a rough time and she felt terrible for how she acted.
You never know, it may be well intentioned.
But it's totally up to you.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I've been finding it cathartic to accept friend requests from people formerly not friends of mine.
At first I was ignoring them, but I think about how different I am now than I was then and I've been giving people the benefit of the doubt.
So far it's worked out well.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I would think that warrants "send a personal message" option when you send the friend request.
Personally I would probably add her but block her from seeing anything personal. If she doesn't reach out to you via messages, then delete her.

You can add someone as a friend but block them from looking at your pics and info? I didn't know that.

Agreed! I always think it's weird when out-of-the-blue friend requests don't come with a message.
I have no problem ignoring friend requests when they come from people that I am not currently friends with and/or don't really want to be friends with.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
If you are open to seeing what she has to say, I say add her. If she didn't send a personal message with the friend request, I would give it some time to see if she contacts you through Facebook through your wall or inbox. I would not initiate the interaction with her.
If she does not contact you, I would probably end up deleting her. I actually just deleted 2 people yesterday from HS who I accepted. I was never friends with them in HS, they sent me friend requests and after I accepted them, I never heard a word from them. My Facebook goal is not to have the most "friends". I want to have quality friends that I am interested in communicating with.
At least that is how I would handle it!

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
There are people from HS that I had fallouts with but would love to have FB or Myspace as a way to rekindle the friendship... and there are also people that I couldn't care less about. If you don't want to be her friend, nothing wrong with that! You don't need to friend her to save face or be social.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I don't know. I would ignore it. I just ignored two people who I honestly never spoke one word to in all of hs. I went to a private grammer school so it's not like we have any history. I went to school with them for 4 years and never spoke to them once.. And It's wasn't because I was too cool.. LOL. Far from it.
I think it was a little nasty of me but, i agree with the above poster that said she is not in it to have the most friends. DH has like 300 people because he just accepts everyone! I think it is silly.
SO, if this girl is not someone you would care to be friends with regardless of what she has to say to you, Ignore it. JMO

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I added someone that accused me of ruing her baby shower because I chose that date as my wedding date. After adding her she ended up apologizing to me and now we are friends again.

I wouldn't add her - I don't see the point. Especially if she didn't have the decency to send any sort of message with the friend request.

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
I had an old roomate who screwed me out of a couple of hundred dollars request me. She even had the nerve to ask if I remembered her Ummmm.. yea! But I added her since I didn't want to make it into a big deal and give her the satisfaction. Sounds silly but I thought by ignoring it and saying no to her request, I was giving her more power- KWIM?

Re: WWYD? Facebook/HS Friend Request ?
In this case, I would ignore it. I am normally all for rekindling with acquaintances but it sounds like she did you wrong and does not deserve to be your friend, even on Facebook.
