wwyd- flying to england- 7 1/2 months w/3 year old

Okay so i just found out my aunt has liver cancer. She is 71. They don't do liver transplants over the age of 65. However all of my aunts organs are healthy and much younger than her age, so she has been put on the transplant list. YAY!

Anyway, that means she can't travel more than 2 hours away from the hospital. She lives in England. She also can't fly for 6 months after the surgery. They seem to think she'll get a new liver within a few weeks or months at most (she's at the top of the list).

I am 25 weeks along.

My aunt is devastated only because she was supposed to come here for the birth of #2 and stay for 2 months to help out. She did this with #1 too. Obviously she can't now.

So i want to take my 3 year old and fly to england for a week. If she can't come here, i'll take jacen there to see her. I was thinking of doing this in the next month.

However my husband isn't comfortable with this. It makes him nervous. He literally starts sweating just talking about it. He's not sure he can come with me, which is making it worse. But i could care less. I don't think it's a big deal and my son is an awesome traveler.

wwyd??? how do i get my husband to relax about this? I am probably going to go with or without his permission per say, but i'd rather have him on board.

I would speak to your OB and make sure that they approve the trip. Once they do you can show your DH how safe it would be for you to travel during that time.

Good luck and sorry to hear about your aunt.

I did yesterday. Since i've had very easy pregnancies and uncomplicated, he says i can fly up until 37 weeks. He said to walk around a lot and drink lots of water. Also to take aspirin an hour before flights to prevent blood clots.

I would do it before 30 weeks, just in case - and honestly I think you'll be fine Chat Icon Just have a doctor's note, and drink more water than you think you can handle Chat Icon

Many hugs and good thoughts for your aunt!

I think you are fine, I did it with my first when I was 25 weeks pregnant, just bring lots of stuff for Jacen to do on the plane, its not *that* long of a flight. Where are you flying into? Do you have a car seat for him? I would do it now when you have just the one kid, as its more difficult with a little one who is mobile.

Good luck! I hope your Aunt is doing well!

I am from the UK and all my family still lives there. If it was me I would fly over and spend some quality time with your Aunt. I flew to Vegas (5hr flight) with no issues at all two weeks ago at 30 weeks. My prayers are with your Aunt Chat Icon and your family.

Ask your DH what he would do if it was someone important to him...maybe he'll understand better that you NEED to go.

Good luck and best wishes for your Aunt!

I would do it. She sounds like a mother figure for you. Take DH to your next OB appointment. My thoughts are with your aunt. Chat Icon
