WWYD? Godparent question
I'm not sure if this even belongs on this board, but I'm hoping you moms can help.
My uncle and his wife are pregnant with their third baby (he has 5 kids from his former wife) and there is a great chance that they're going to ask DH and I to become this baby's godparents. While this is normally such an honor, I have a lot of problems with my uncle and things he has done to my grandparents, my mom, & his own kids.
So, I ask.....is there a way to politely say no to being a godparent?
Any advice is welcome...thanks!!

Re: WWYD? Godparent question
Hmmmnnn....could you back out due to different religious beliefs? Not that you aren't the same religion but some people look at Godparenting as a different role than others. Some see it as an honorary title and others see it as actually being a huge part of the child's religious unbringing. So if you know he feels one way, perhaps you could decline due to being the opposite? Not exactly something that your average person could argue against and it would get you out of saying the true reason. I say good for you for not wanting to put up a front and just doing it to not get into a confrontation.
