Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
I have asked them to wash their hands before they touch my son. Most do automatically but there was a NP that didn't...so I said something.

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
I chose confront them but I'd do it in a round about way. I would say something like..."Your hands must get so dry from washing them in between every appointment. Do you use special soap or hand sanitizer?." Basically start a conversation about it and based on his reaction/answer go from there.

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
You could mention it everytime, but I doubt your comments will get them to change their practices regularly so I chose to switch.

I would probably switch. They surely should know better, it's not as if you would educate them. And I would hate to think what other unsanitary practices they engage in if they don't wash hands!

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
My ped. washes his hands at every visit in the room infront of us before even coming near DS....even my own dr does that. I would say something or switch dr's if they didnt.

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
Mine always does so I have never had to worry, but I also ask the NPs & PAs to make sure they wash before touching DS.

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
I'd either ask them to wash or switch. I don't think calling the front desk is the way to go though. I can't see a receptionist or med asst passing that message along. If you like them otherwise, I'd ask them to wash. Is it all the time?

I've only had 2 appts with this dr. I noticed it the first time and figured I'd give him a second try. The 2nd time he failed to do so. For some reason I feel intimidated....which I know I am my child's advocate and have to protect my child. I'm sort of upset with myself!! At the same time if I say something I do believe who's to say they will do it all the time for other patients. Sometimes you can't change people, if its already a bad habit.

I would just switch. A doctor should really know better and I don't think I would want to be taking advice from a doctor that doesn't wash his/her hands to be honest.

Mine washes his hands at the end of each exam. I wouldn't say anything.

Re: wwyd Pediatrician related....
I would talk to the Dr. about it. Maybe he/she uses an alcohol foam outside the room? I agree that it is helpful to see the Doctor wash their hands in the room, but if you don't see it, it doesn't mean they are not doing it.
