WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....Graco Naultilus
DS's Graco Nautilus is less than a year old .....One side of the buckle keeps getting stuck and he literally gets stuck in his seat ... It sometimes takes me a good 2 minutes to get him out !
I was thinking of trying to take it back to BRU because I am wondering if its defective ...
Do you think they would even entertain the idea of exchanging it for another one? Or maybe I should call Graco direct ?? The seat wasn't cheap so I really don't feel like I should just toss and replace, kwim?

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
My sister had the same problem with hers. They almost had to cut my niece out of the seat. I googled and saw other people had the same problem. You can try cleaning the buckle with a can of air and see if that helps. She ended up returning it to BRU since she was within the 90 days. Before that she called Graco and they told her they had never heard of that problem before (which I doubt!) and would send her a new buckle. So if BRU doesn't take it back, call Graco.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
Does BBB carry the same product??? If they do then I would bring it to them, explain the problem and either exchange it for a new one or ask for store credit and get a different brand. BBB is amazing with their return policy.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
if BBB carries it i would just bring it there since the exchange policy is great.
they are owned by bed bath and beyond and over the holidays i brought them my 1 year old keurig without a box or receipt and they exchanged it for a brand new one.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
Wow......so others have had this issue too
I'm guessing BBB probably does carry it, maybe I will try BRU first and if not try them (only because BRU is way closer to me) I wish there were a BBB closer
Thanks, I'll update when I try to make the return !

We have the same issue on occasion so I'm wondering this too.
Us too. The other day it took 5 minutes to get DD out. It kind of freaked me out because god forbid there is an accident how would I take her out. I even started researching other 5 point boosters. I'm going to email the company How old is your seat? Mine is about 3 years old.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
I don't know if exchanging it will solve the problem. If you do a search on car seat.org you will see lots of people have the same issue. It's kind of scary becuse of you needed to get them out ASAP and the buckle decides to be tempermental you can't. Sucksss because other than that it's a great seat.

Thats what I was thinking....I was hoping maybe they improved the design or something....
Besides the Britax, does anyyone know of another 5 point harness booster with a good weight limit ? My DS is only 6 and weighs 60 lbs

Ugh sorry for all the typos in my previous post damns iPhone lol. From what I've researched it seems either the britax frontier or radian are the other best bets but they are $$. I dont want to do a regular booster. I wonder if BBB would give credit for the seat and then we can apply that to the britax?? I'm going to keep an eye out for great britax deals. Does anyone know of target sells them in store? Maybe they will go on clearance now.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
This whole thing is really concerning me now hearing that multiple people are having these issues...I was hoping it was just a fluke that ours was defective !
Either way (whether I am able to exhange at either BRU or BBB), I am still calling or e-mailing Graco...Maybe this needs to be looked into for a recall...God forbid there was an emergency and the child had to get out

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
WOW! This just happened to me yesterday!! I almost had to loosen the straps and have DD climb out of it and then I finally got it undone. I was going to try some WD40 to see if it helped. Our seat is about a year old.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
Thanks for posting about this! I've always only heard great things about this seat, but this is concerning because what if you need to get your child out in a quick second situation? I hope Graco gets notified so they can record the issue and hopefully enough people report it so that they can fix it!

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....
Sticky buckles aren't unique to the Nautilus, I've seen it happen to Evenflo, Britax, Cosco/Safety 1st etc.
there are 2 different styles of buckles that can be found on Graco Seats. The old style looked sort of like a half circle, was indented and was very easy, the newer style is flat to the surface and not as easy. The thread linked is over 2 years old, meaning that the discussion is mainly about the old style buckle. (People have complained about the new style buckle to Graco because the old buckle was much easier for older kids/elderly to undo, so feel free to complain to them about that if you have it. The new style buckle is just difficult to undo for some people) If you search C-S.org you'll find other threads about the same issue with other brands of seats. It can also occur in a vehicle's seat belt buckle.
If you're having problems, try rinsing the buckle in warm to hot water first. Juice, milk, soda, crumbs, dirt, sand etc can get inside. This just happened to DD1's Britax seat, the buckle was sticking and it just needed to be cleaned (I was able to just tap out the dirt/sand without water). Also had this with DD1's True Fit. And she isn't allowed ANY food in the car, but does have the occasional sippy or juice box.
Do not use WD40 or any other lubricant unless it is specifically ok'd by the manufacturer.
If it's still a problem call Graco about it.
It is a great seat. This is not a reason to stop using it or buy a new seat. If your children eat in the car or have juice/soda drinks, it could happen more often. It can also happen in any seat. So could a myriad of other problems.

Re: WWYD ? Problems with my booster seat.....Graco Naultilus
OK so my biggest concern with this was in case of an emergency (car accident)how do you get DC out fast enough. I read on another forum that in case of an accident Emergency personnel remove the entire carseat with the child in it so it shouldn't be an issue. Does anyone know if this is true?
