x-post to pets: Dog training/pregnancy related

Hey all,
My friend has a 1 year old pure breed black lab (male), who is very hyper. She found out she is pregnant about 2 weeks ago and this week, for the first time, the dog growled and snapped at her. He didn't bite her and she didn't back down to him, she just pulled up on his leash and made him go into sitting then lying position, while giving a loud "no!" Does anybody have any recommendations for dog trainers that would go to their house and help them train and transition the dog for when the new baby comes? Also, he is not neutered. The vet said it would not help calm him at all at this point. I said he should be neutered anyway and what can it hurt at this point? Any experiences with this. TIA!

I definitely think neutering him will help. Also, I highly recommend calling Mike from Bide-a-wee. He is the head trainer--he came to our house and was fabulous. Also very honest and will assess the situation very fairly. Even if he is not able to come, he would be able to recommend someone.

I have a lab too (female, but almost the same age) and I think neutering will definitely help. We went to a series of training lessons at Bid-A- Wee which helped with basic commands. Like the PP mentioned I'd call them and ask about a trainer that can come to her house. Hope she has some luck!
