X-Post..Family friendly vacations within driving distance of NY

Looking to take a vacation over the summer...

Usually we do a Carribean type trip since we belong to a vacation club
( time-share type thing)..I would like to try something different this year and maybe not have to fly...

Really wanted to go to Hershey ( since we haven't done that yet) , but my vacation club has no more units available there until November

Anyone have any great suggestions
( with a 4.5yo and a 17m old) ?

Places, points of interest ?? Less than 8-9 hours away ??

My friend went to Mohonk with her 3 year old twins and had a blast. They have lots of outdoor activities-check them out.
