Zofran? And a question about dehydration....

Does it work? My OBGYN just called it in to my pharmacy - I have lost 13 pounds.... I'm not keeping anything down....

She is concerned that I'll get dehydrated - over the phone I failed to mention that I rarely urinate and when I do its dark.... This is rare for me - I am usually always peeing and its light because I am a huge water drinker...

Should I call her back and tell her this? Am I dehydrated?

Should I be concerned?

I would call her back and let her know that. It sounds like you are becomming dehydrated.

Are you drinking a lot of water still? what about some gatorade?

you definitely sound dehydrated, and yes that is a concern ... you can land yourself right in the hospital if the dehydration becomes severe. Given the fact that your M/S is soo bad, it's no wonder that you are so dehydrated Chat Icon

I would tell your doctor that you aren't urinating and your urine is dark..they might even suggest some intravenous fluids to help you feel better..

please be careful! Chat Icon

I think the results are individual. My sister is in the hospital right now due to severe MS and dehydration. The Zofran didn't work - nothing has worked for more than 2 days. They have been injecting her with anti-nausea meds that they use for cancer patients...to no avail Chat Icon

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time...I would try it and see how you feel. Good luck...

OK, apparently the Zofran IS what they give to cancer patients.

Have you tried other meds prior to this? They put Lisa on a couple of different kinds - even ones that didn't work for her last pregnancy (she had bad MS with my niece too).

Yes the Zofran works and is an excellent source for mom's with severe morning sickness. My friend is 32 weeks and is still taking it. It is the only way she can get through the day and keep any food in. I think at 32 weeks she is only up 3-5 pounds but her baby is growing beautifully.

I took Zofran every morning until I delivered. It was a god send! I was not able to keep anything down without it. I didn't gain weight during my pregnancy but I stopped losing, (after the first 20 pounds).
