False positives
Did anyone see this False positives
I know someone talked about false positives on this forum. I'm concerned about the reliability of the tests. And the fact that there are still being treated as positive test results even though there was an error.

Re: False positives
So how did they come to discover they were false positives though? Did they re-rerun a test? Did they find some big error in the equipment? Like what made them say- wait, we were wrong on these tests and rerun them?

False positives
I think there were some that were found to be incorrect it in the big picture I don’t think they are causing the positive rates to change that much in our area. The stats have been generally consistent.
To me I’d be more worried about a negative that was really a positive because that person is then most likely out there spreading!

Exactly. There are false negatives all the time with the regular flu test too. I don't understand what a "false positive" is. How can a test turn positive if there are no viral cells? That makes no sense to me.

probably a computer error or reporting error. Something like that.
As far as false negatives- that's a big issue. If the tests aren't accurate what good are they? If I test negative how can I be sure it wasn't a false negative. Disaster

Re: False positives
Yes me. My child’s friend was told they were positive, everyone that came in contact with him and whoever came in contact with those people went and got tested. My child got tested and was negative as well as everyone else. The friend was told they messed up and got another test and was negative. This is why I don’t trust any of these numbers.

Re: False positives
There are false positives and false negatives. There are also people (who many of us know) who get sick but for whatever reason, do not get tested. And there are people who are contagious, but asymptomatic, and so they are not counted.
Does anyone REALLY think that any false positives means that this is overblown and that the virus situation is not a dumpster fire?
