Will you allow your children to be covid tested?

I personally don’t agree with the school testing. I want to know what the procedure will be. Covid is not spreading IN school, especially at the elementary level. And the rapid tests have proved to not be accurate. I just don’t see the point of all of this. Temperatures are taken as students walk in, parents have to fill out a survey, masks are worn all, desk shields are up, classes do not inter-mingle....what more do they want??

At least not in the beginning.

A state official said the first batches should be enough to cover all nursing home residents and staff across the state, though Cuomo said he expects some people at those facilities will opt not to be vaccinated. He added he won't mandate it, either.

Instead, he hopes a state public education campaign convinces skeptics that the vaccine can save lives.

Between 75% and 85% of people would need to be vaccinated to allow the country to return to normalcy, Cuomo said, citing the projections of experts.

"That is a tremendously high percentage on every level, administration of it and acceptance of it," Cuomo said.

There are about 85,000 nursing home residents in the state, and 130,000 staff members in the facilities, for a total of 215,000 people eligible for the first tranche, Cuomo and his aides said. However, since officials expect not all 215,000 will want to be vaccinated, some doses should be available for health care workers.

So use the nursing homes as guinea pigs. First he killed the people in them and not this.

According to the physicians I have seen interviewed they wont begin to test that until next year and that will take a lot of time. So i wouldnt waste any time being concerned about that vaccine becoming mandatory this September. Just doesnt seem like a realistic timeline.

How so considering many people have already caught it (asymptomatics for sure being the majority)? Also there’s a high survival rate for covid, and before someone gives me the evil eye, I understand every life is important. Unfortunately it is a virus we’re talking about and compared to other viruses, it indeed has a high survival rate. Catching it is not a guarantee that u’ll be hospitalized, there are not even considerable chances to be hospitalized. I think if vaccines came without a risk (side effects/adverse reactions, short and long term), it’d be the perfect solution to have it but that’s not the reality, especially with a vaccine done in just a few months and with zero liability from those companies that made it. Considering all the pros and cons, I believe natural herd immunity (which we already are on our path to that) is our best bet.

How about also considering all those who got it, recovered fine (not in the hospital) but are still suffering? People have lingering symptoms like body aches, headaches, fatigue, no taste. The effects of the virus itself are still not known.

For our first round, the percentage of those who tested that tested positive was higher than the 5% cluster rate so they are going to have to test another 20%. They sent a survey around today since we are remote next week as well to see if anyone plans on sending their kids in during December. I said no because my kids would only be in 4 days and they want to spend Christmas with their grandparents. Since the first 20% testing shut us down, I have no hopes for the second round. Well, i guess if they do it - it won’t be any school spread to start since they haven’t been there in 2 to 2.5 weeks once the next testing starts. They hopefully will resume on 1/4.
